I wish I could make it. Can’t spare the vacation time this year. I do plan to go again sometime though. It really is an awesome event. I’ll be following the trip report thread. Everyone get plenty of pics.
It is sad to see that Cruise Moab had to cancel, but once the state, city, town governments started to have to make tough decisions to protect their citizens, it was bound to happen. Moab is in a real lockdown situation. This will be terrible for their economy. Tough to see how this is all playing out. We are hopeful that in late July, this is all in the rear view mirror and HIHX will be unaffected, but we will watch and react accordingly.
But it is a great time for interested peeps with a little extra time on their hands to pickup the self study Level 1 Technician Ham Radio License Manual to prep for your license.

Agree'd sir. Been hounding my old man to get after it while things are slowing down.
If anyone is interested in chatting about radios, setup, the test... give me a shout. I will talk nerdy about radios all day long. Having HAM last year definitely made the runs more fun and we enjoyed harassing @geanes from many miles away. Also cool having APRS if you have family at home that is curious.

I am doing just this. I picked up a different book that I am really liking. It is called Pass Your Amateur Radio Technician Test The Easy Way. It is focused on only providing the right answers in the book as it explains everything. When the concepts are explained in the book, all of the answers are in bold and worded as they will be on the test. This makes it so much easier to pay attention to the areas that matter. Lets be honest, if I have an issue once I pass my test, I don't need to know a lot of the info outright. I just need to know where to find the answers. Most frequently that means asking in forums and also having the books to search.
Dug up some pics going way back to HIH3. Wow, we have had a long run and it has been awesome...... (check out all the rigs with no aftermarket front bumpers!!!)

That is Corkscrew looking East. You can make out Hurricane in the top left. Can also make out Velocity Basin center right (above the LX on the far right) and the Blackhawk Mine trail I scouted in the center (between the silver LX and the grey LC). Attached are 2 photos from my scouting at HIH9 of Velocity Basin and Blackhawk. Both are trails never done at an HIH. But, they are both incredible with lots of great old mines to explore.
