I woke up this morning and the cruiser would not start, battery was fine, loads of fuel, but it would not turn over

I had the At temp light on and the air flow sensor light on... I dont have a scan guage and its going to cost me big bucks to have the thing towed to toyota on the other end of town.

Has anyone experianced something like this before, any reccomendations to get her started so I can drive her to toyota?

I have a sneeky syspision that this is a sensor issue as there where no issues yesterday and no hints that naything was wrong

What happens when you turn the key?
Does the starter engage and try turning over but just does not fire up?
No starter engagement at all?!?

the starter turns over, sounds good, battery is fine, engine wont fire.

everything else comes on, steering column comes out ect... just has these two new lights on the dash

Checked fuses inside cab and fuses relays under hood?

yup, gave all of the ones under the hood a good pull and replace, as well as the air flow sensor.

Throwing out ideas here.... If I try and use my non chipped key it just turns and turns but never fires. Do you have a 2nd key you can try with to see if your chipped key has gone bad???

I appreciate all the ideas as ill go home and run through them to see if I can get her started.

I only have two keys, what you guys call a vallet key (the one without the lock unlock buttons, on a simple plastic toyota fob) and an aftermarket cut key. both have worked without issues int he past.

I dont even lock the car.

You may try disconnecting the + for a few minutes to let the ecm reset. It may start, then you can drive to the stealer. HTH

Check that the little red flashing truck on the dash goes out when you insert the key. If not, the immobilizer is still activated and you're just cranking it like mxndrnks said.

Is it a copy key? Even the fob key that doesn't have a remote has a chip in it that is necessary to start the vehicle. If there is a problem with confirming the presence of the key, the engine will turn over but not ignite.

Edit: saw that you said you have a copy key. Is that the key you tried to use? Was your other key attached to the ring when that one worked?

+1 on the key chip issue... The chip has to be virtually next to the ignition slot for it to fire. Could the chip in the master key have peckered out?
