Hi guys-

Just started thinking about the possibility of adding a 100 series in the next year or so and was hoping I might be able to check out a few of the ones here locally. I've talked with Chris (Calixto) and hope to chat with some others in the near future.

I've been reading up on the differences of particular years and the Lexus LX470 vs. LC stuff and have an idea of what I might want but I'd like first hand input from the local SD guys with 100 series.

As of now I'm thinking:

-2003-2007 100 (or LX470)
-prefer 80-100k
-eventually add a small lift and tires and probably sliders after that. More of a camping/fun/dd rig rather than a serious wheeler.

Hoping I can find something between 18-23k but seems like the West coast stuff is priced higher than most other areas.

Here's an idea of my perfect rig to start although I think this might be an 01...

I am looking at the same scenario but a few years older on the 100. I look forward to the imput as well.

Getting rid of the 80 for a Hundy?

I have a 2000 with some of the mods you are looking to add. Let me know if you want to check it out.

I have a 99 hundy with Mt sliders, slee rear and a few other mods. Pm me if you are interested in checking it out.

Dom, I think that is a good call. The 100 series are sweet when they are all setup. Consider looking in other states as well. I flew out to AZ and bought a 4runner once as it had everything I needed and was cheaper. It is worth it if you get what you want. Keep in mind you will be somewhat limited on the wheeling aspect as it won't have a solid front axle like the 80, but if you are not wheeling it that hard then no biggie.

Love my 100! I will swing it by one day so you can test drive it. Only negative is that the gas mileage literally sucks...but I love the power of the v8 when needed. I don't drive that much so it works for me. Keep in mind that if you buy the truck out of state you are going to be hit with CA sales tax. I got a smoking deal on mine from a friend so it worked out pretty good.

I think you pay sales tax either way? in state or out? a way around this is to work with the seller to write the truck down for much less than you are actually paying for it. I am not a fan of double taxation by govt.

Thanks for the offers and input guys. Definitely a national search. Staying away from the rust belt regions but certainly willing to travel for a good one. Considering stepping up the price a bit if I have to.

Might sell the BMW since I don't really need 4 cars....

OK finally found the perfect hundy. Just drove back from Kansas with it...

And a stunning 19.3 MPG on one tank with AC on from Denver to Green Valley. Avg tank was about 16.5...

Thanks to Chris and the rest of the guys for answering all my questions and for a few test drives.

Sweet. Nice pics thru CO and UT I presume. Tunnel the Eisenhower in CO? Did Toto come with the rig?

Nice!

Looks like I am a little late, but swing by SDTrux and check out John's hundy. He has it setup really nice and may give you some ideas/inspiration.

Thanks guys. No big plans yet but tossing around the idea of a 1.5 lift and BFG's. It's so nice and clean its going to take a few weeks to convince myself to do anything to it.

It's a 2004 with 22k miles. Interior is like new and I can honestly say I've never seen a nicer stock 100 ever. My wife says it looks new so she's happy and quite surprised at its condition. I originally missed it when it listed in NorCal (lasted a few hours) and was bought by a dealer in Kansas that sells low mileage early 100's and LX's. I had to pay more the second time around but no regrets, it's exactly what I wanted and I plan on keeping it for its lifetime.

Sorry Brent, no Toto.
