Looking for interest for a 100 series style lockbox that @NLXTACY already has in development for the 80 series. I for one could use a secure storage area for things that can't be taken into government buildings and such, and I'm sure other people could as well.
Just make a comment if you'd be interested.

Hey guys, this has been designed for the LX450 and the LC80 and FJ60 early. I'm about to go into production and was just asking a few questions that have now been answered. I can add the 100 to the list and all I would need is access to a 100 console. This is what the LX450 one looks like...in Solid Works anyway ;)

These are exact fit btw. They follow the taper, contour and radius of the OEM console.
If you made them for the 100 series, would it still retain the cup holders up front or would it completely replace the center console?

Does it sit on top of the disc changer or in place of it?

I'm very interested, btw.

this is cool - maybe a fingerprint or combination lock option for a price bump? I'm not crazy about another key.

Can someone post some pics of the inside of their console? Are their any peculiarities between 100 series consoles? Do some have the changer and some don't. Any other options available on the 100 series that I should be aware of?

Interested. I have searched for a lockbox to fit inside the console. Nothing so far. A right-side hinged door for easy opening from drivers seat would be good.

Combination lock is nearly the same price as the key lock. So it would just be an option. So long as both use the same "D" hole pattern they should be interchangeable. Anything biometric is most likely out.

Ha! You just neat me to my next question. Would opening to the lid towards the passenger seat be better than opening towards the back seat?

For sure, imho. Make it right hinged with a combination lock and I'm in for 1 for sure

I'm very interested as well.

Here is what I wrote on the 80 Series side...

Since I'm still waiting for my Fire Extinguisher Mounts to come back from powder coating, and I'm bored....

Lock boxes are a weird purchase. They almost feel personal. These little boxes are supposed to be bolted down, sometimes hidden, and yet protect anything that is inside from common thieves.

Here is where I am so far. I'm about to get a few prototype made but wanted to get everyone's feedback and to make sure that if I make these, will folks actually purchase them. Reason I ask is because the other stuff I've been making hasn't exactly been flying out the doors but I don't want to give up making stuff. Something will click. :flipoff2:

I am NOT bothering with making it Fire-Resistant because in order to get it certified I'd have to pay way too much money. Hell no! Its a simple lock box.

So:
1. Does it need to be fire-resistant? If the truck is burning to the ground does it matter at that point?
2. Does it need to be water-tite? I'm thinking/hoping no because it makes things infinitely easier.
3. Is a simple tumbler key adequate enough? Anything else and the price sky-rockets.

The Wits' End Lock Box has been developed to fit snugly inside of the center console using existing bolts/nuts. Once installed, and with the use of the Wits' End Lower Console Liner, will look as though there is nothing further to look for. Hidden, clean and slick.

I'm making it from heavy 14gauge steel, felt walls and rubber mat to protect contents from damage. The size is big enough to fit most smaller sidearms or important papers or accessories like a watch, passport or phone. Includes two keys for the single keylock.

• Key lock (2 keys included)
• Hinged lid
• Foam rubber padded floor
• Bolts to existing bolts (need to see the 100 Series to decide on mounting)
• Scratch resistant powder coat finish
• Thick 14gauge steel wall construction
• All Steel construction
• 100% Made in America

It has some contours that are tough to fit and retain all usable space. Also has some plastic tabs at the top opening that support the lid. These could be ground off to drop in a box. Another raised offset at rear for the power plug. The bottom is wider than the top because of the armrests.

I was thinking a lid with frame only to fasten to the inside top perimeter. Much easier to build and retain space. Fastened wth rivets or screws under the lid frame.

You could also do cutouts in the box side panels and bottom rear to give access to the offsets. Like a skeletonized frame.
