Hello from italy. I got some questions for the automatic transmission experts in this forum. We made out of two 100 series one good unit. One had a bad engine but a good rust free frame, the other one was all rusty but had a good engine and interior. Both have the 4 speed auto and the 4.2 hdfte diesel and are from 1999. we swapt the engine but kept the transmission in the good rust free one that had the blown engine. We also overhauled the good engine because it was leaking and had allready 330.000km so new bearings, head resurfacing, belts water pump, valve seat machining and so one. whats wrong is the transmission shifting. If i hit the accelerator pedal 100% it doesent shift in the lower gear or it happens to late. The old rusty one went to 3000+rpm when i hit the gas and it was first at about 2000rpm. If i climb a hill now and i am for exaple at 1800rpm and i hit the gas pedal nothing happens from the transmission side. The engine tries its best and manages to hold its rpms. When the hill gets steeper and the engine cant keep its rpm and goes a bit down it finaly shifts back or opens the torque convertor clutch(not even sure if it has one) on the other 100series like how i said it immediately would have shiftet back or opened the torque convertor clutch so that the engine is in its max horsepower rpms. Both have the same horsepower on the technical data sheet. My question is do there exist different torque convertors? We never could test the landcruiser before so we do not know how it drove once with the old(bad) engine. Or do you got some other tips?
We changed the oil(used the correct one) and the filter. Oil level is correct. I thought also about the kick down switch on the accelerator pedal. need to test this when the car is back, but i wannt to use the time do do some research on the mean time.
We also belive the engine does not like to go on its rpm like once when its in neutral and i rev it. We marked the injection pump but i did not check the injection point since it was later on the same position on the oem mark(which is on the aluminium timing chase) maybe thats also a mistace but not sure how much the injection ponit affects the shifting. Injectors are also new
Thank you in advance Greetings from italy
