Are you washing by hand and using the recommended carnauba?

I will chime in that this vehicle's paint job is very labor intensive (and somewhat fragile) if you go by Toyota's recommendations on no power tools and only carnauba.

To add some additional user feedback, the windshield angle is very vertical like the FJ Cruiser (and soft). So, it's not a question of if but when you will start to see rock chips and pitting from normal driving.

An addendum to the original post with some added opinions.....

Now that I am about 5-6 washes in, I have to admit this is the most difficult Toyota/Lexus product to wash and dry as any I have had, which also includes multiple 4runners, multiple Tacomas, and the aforementioned list of Land Cruisers. It's not as difficult to get and keep clean as BMW (OEM brake pad funk everywhere) and Land Rover (nooks / crannies / seams / too much gloss) but pretty darn close.

You'd better have an air compressor handy and also plan on a short drive to blow out the remainder, because there are a lot of seams that hold water, especially the mirrors and the rear end. Takes me a pass with the air compressor, then a 5-6 mile drive to get the water to stop running from these areas. Haven't had to do any of this with any Land Cruiser I've had.

I hope this level of water retention in hidden areas doesn't translate to rust down the road, but it sure requires care. I cringe to think about the off-roaders trying to get the muddy water to stop running at an after trail run clean up.

I use a carwash with cloth wheels, mostly to keep the undercarriage clean and hand wash, so about 50/50.

He had me in the first half but then all this talk about LC’s having a history of being effortless then going on to say the hybrid 4 is slow? (It’s not.) I do agree it’s a noisy engine in the NVH department which definitely soured my only test drive of one. Then he goes on to say the Lexus is “stealth wealth”? Lol since when has that been the case for a Lexus? Good production quality on the video at least. Made it feel like it wasn’t a total waste of time spent watching.

Shocking how similar these times are. Definitely tracks though in my experience with the TT6 being the fastest of the bunch. I’ve never felt the 5.7 longing for power until I had it up in the mountains last week. I always felt like the V6 in the 4R was a dog. What helps the 250 is definitely that battery system. Instant torque off the line makes it feel fast which is where most people will notice any perceptible speed.

Performance wise, the TT6 will further excel (vs 5.7) in the mountains as the turbos can compensate for the lower density air. Longevity wise though....

I'm debating the between the GX 550 and a well cared for 200 series. I live in Colorado at 7,300 feet so I take a ~22% hit on hp in any NA vehicle. While my 100 "manages", it's definitely no rocket ship. The turbo'd GX 550 would sure be nice while living at elevation.

I've driven both the LC and GX and quickly determined the NVH of the LC was not for me. It would annoy me every time I got in the vehicle.

I have a 2018 200-Series and the wife has a GX550 OT+ and we also live in CO but at 9500’. The turbos on the GX really do shine when driving at these higher elevations. in my opinion, the 200’s 5.7 isn’t bad either but would probably depend on your driving style. FWIW, I still prefer my 200 over the GX overall.

While I appreciate the Araco-built LX470 that we have, our 200 LC is equally as solid. If you really want a vault-door experience, the 16+ LX 570 has no comparison.

Interesting video and I mostly agree. I’m not sure I agree about his “effortlessness” comment regarding previous generations of LC. All of them with the exception of the 200 are just “adequate” (at best) in the power department.

I’ve got no experience with the 250 but like many of us I’ve got serious concerns regarding the longevity of the twin turbo 4 banger/ hybrid system. Unfortunately, I’ve got even bigger concerns with the V35 main bearing issues. Personally, I’d love to see Toyota get the V35 sorted out as offer it in a LC trim in the future.

I need to drag race a 250 in with my tuned VVTI 4.7 with headers/CAI/exhaust and see how it does. Given the kind of pathetic posted accelerations, I'm pretty sure the 2UZ Blast from the Past will be faster and sound better.

If the 250 is slower than a 1GR then it's an immediate "no go" for me.

I never felt my 100 or 200 did not have more than adequate speed/acceleration to drive on the highway. I've never struggled to pass anything and am not a petal smasher. If power and speed were concerns I'd buy a sports car instead of trying to turn an SUV into something it is not.

Chiming in here. That was a fun project to work on and while my personal opinions vary to some degree, I do appreciate his take. More than that, they are fun folks to work with and I like driving LC250’s and GX550’s fast in the desert

I'm always surprised when people talk about the 200 being a dog. 6.5 seconds ain't no joke for a tank like that.
