I need to modify my roof rack mounts for a new to me Con Ferr rack. I'm going to use Angle for the supports. It will run the length between the supports on each side (front to back). 1x1 should be wide enough, but I am concerned about bending. Should I use 1/8 or 3/16". It will span 6.35'.

Or should I go larger width angle with a larger thickness?

SO you are tying the mounts together, then the rack will sit in the channel created by the angle iron? And the rack is just a bit too narrow or short to attach the mounts directly to it? Lastly, this is for your FJC?
