Almost done with my project.

I put a Skyjacker 4" Lift with the axle shims on my '73 only problem is my drivers side is a 1/2" shorter than my passenger side. It is the body that is off, the frame is still level. Only driving I have done is around the block to test the brakes.

Any thoughts on why this would be doing this????

??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Thanks in advance.

Ahh, ...the age old problem which befalls both the 40 and 60 series.
The reasons behind the "lean" have been discussed numerous times. Standard explanations have always been, "Land Cruisers were originaly designed as RHD's"... or if Aussie, "The roads in Aussie are concaved.", or "...it must be your fat butt." etc.

OME has designed their springs with a "A" side (US driver's side) and "B" side. But even this hasn't cured the problem for all, or has even caused an opposite lean for others.
Very few, if any in the domestic aftermarket offer springs that are subdivided by side. In Aussie however, I believe that they are.
I've checked the Toyota factory part numbers for the rear springs and found they differ which leads me to think they are distict. Though when I compared mine, they seem to be the same both in height and number of leaves. Perhaps they differ in spring rate?

Well, whatever the reason, what's the fix?
1) Welcome to cruiserdom and live with the lean.
2) Use the factory fix and shim (lower) the high side.
3) Add a custom leaf to the low side.
There may be others.

You don't need a custom shim. There actually is a Toyota part number for this. Got to this link for a description. Scroll down past the book ad:

I think you can get the shim from other places too! The shim goes between the spring and the axle.

Yup. ;) it's just a plate.

(rhetoric causing confusion... :whoops:)

Good Job Ken!

Thanks- I actually have one of these shims. It was in the front pass side when I put the lift on. Was leaning to the left then. Did not put it back on where it was. Still leaning to the left. It's on my to do list to put it on the driver rear side.

I have heard that having your bezel on upside down exacerbates this lean.

I think he's off trying to find out the name of his girlfriend...

Actually, I found my cruiser lean improved with new springs:
Went from needing 3 1/8 inch shims to only one shim.

The lean is part of the mystique....live with it.....

Good luck!

So Steve, Since I have the Toyota Shim, I shouldn't use it? I would be losing the "mystique"!

keep in mind that new springs need to break in also.
