I just bought a 1984 FJ-60 a little over a month ago! I took it to my local shop to have them fix a couple of oil leaks and I just drove it from Great Falls, MT to Omaha, NE last week!
It seemed pretty happy at 3000 RPM which translated to about 75 miles an hour. Depending on the terrain, the gas mileage varied between 10 and almost 12 miles to the gallon.
Driving cross country in an older Land Cruiser was a different experience than I expected. I enjoyed the scenery way more and was a lot less stressed about “making good time”. Although it was made in a era when 4 wheel drive vehicles were built for more than grocery getting and the speed limit on the interstate was 55mph, it still was a wonderful experience to drive it to my new home in Nebraska.
Thank you for allowing me into this group! I’m sure I will have many questions that many of you will know the answers to!
