'08 - Driveshaft Clunk/Thump....

My VIN falls within the affected range as noted in this TSB. Local dealer quoted ~$375 with tax, part is in strock.

My "clunk" ONLY happens when accelerating from a dead stop (it happens every time). I don't hear it EVER "just before or after coming to a stop" (quoted from TSB). Since my experience is slightly different than how others and the TSB itself describe this issue:

1. Is it possible this isn't the same clunk? Would hate to drop $$ if this isn't going to solve my particular issue.
2. Anyone know of a less expensive resource to buy OEM parts? I've seen other posts where folks have spent noticeably less on the same part.

It is most likely the TSB (Driveshaft)

that is it... i had the shaft replaced and it is worth it.

the less expensive option... keep greasing up the shaft every month or so... but the TSB is the fix.

So does anyone know if there was a defect in the shaft itself? Is the new one a different part number?

Yes and yes. I kept mine for a clunky spare

Crazy they went backward with the new part #. Thanks for the info Lexus parts has it for a little over 200 bucks. So better get it now

Which site are you referring to? I found lexuspartsnow.com but it's over $300 with shipping.
