Hey guys instead of doing a major crash course on trying to decipher all of the major key areas to determine if they are needing attention by reading 100 threads…I figured I’d make a post and just get some quick advice.(I did skim through FAQ.
I have been in the 55 section only and this truck will be possibly coming my way. If it’s worth buying. So bear with me.
Need to know what to watch out for on an 08’ 200 w/150k all highway miles. Truck is very clean no rust never crashed and just made many trips to Georgia from Tampa. I’ll have to buy it from my family estate so value isn’t my concern here it’s just what is the weak point and what to check for while I have it on my lift. TIA.

Just the radiator comes to mind, people tackle other items while in there sometimes.
I'm sure others will chime in.
Congrats.

Look at the top of the radiator for a micro cracks around the little square embossed section. If it looks good, you're fine, just keep an eye on it. Keep an eye out for signs of the valley plate coolant leak, again, if it looks good, you're fine. At that mileage, I would preemptively replace the starter soon (they crap out with little/no warning and MUCH more involved job to replace than you're used to).

Being a Southern truck, that's pretty much it IMO. Unless it was driven on the beach. Rust on the KDSS system (particularly the little screws) is also a problem area.

And post pics!

Agreed with others that radiator and checking for coolant valley leak are the two that come to mind.

Once you get it, here is a baselining checklist I put together that may help.

Really great bunch of posts and pointers. Much appreciated guys.
The truck was bought new in Florida and one owner. Never crashed and anything it ever needed it was given. Elderly grandfather started to slow down on washing it and that’s about it. Did an oil change on it today and found a few things. Fuel sending unit sticking from sitting so long empty. Some control arm bushings cracked . But, the drain plug was stripped coming out so oil change was done by a dummy and didn’t have a factory drain plug. Looks like a lower oil pan is in need. Pretty simple repair it appears. Airbag light on and my scan tool won’t access it. I’ll figure that out… I sold Snap on for 10 years so I have access to a tool.
Zero rust visible anywhere on the truck and maybe not the most ideal interior / exterior colors but it is what it is… I’ll get through that checklist and check valley for any signs of leaks. Here it is. Oh back seats had humans on the maybe a handful of times. Rear jump seats probably never.

Nice

Lexus dealer ugga dugga'd my oil drain plug on and stripped the threads and I had to replace my oil pan. Pretty easy job.

Yea this looks like they stripped in the replacement drain plug to get it to stop leaking. Idk. Crazier things have happened but seems so entry level to damage a drain plug and keep moving forward with an oil change.

How did this Land Cruiser come with a fully leather wrapped wheel? I thought all of the US spec cruisers came with the fake wood wheel?

I see the leather wrapped wheel as a pro :)

Truck wasn’t spec’d with the upgrade package. Notice it doesn’t have the rear DVD player as well. The non-upgrade trucks got a full leather wheel and a shifter that lacked the faux wood grain insert as well.

Oh interesting - you learn something new every day.

@Blastservices I’d verify the recirc flap behind the glove box works, really common issue for dealer-serviced 200s. Don’t try to move the door by hand.. ignition on and use the recirc button.

If it’s broken there’s a great fix available from a user here.

Good to know! I’ll be back to my shop today I’ll be reading and discovering more today.
I hate the wheels…😬

Personally, I love the colors. Clear windows, white exterior, and tan interior - can’t get any better than that!
It’s actually growing on me… I spent the day with it messing and exploring and the color isn’t as bad as I originally judged. It’s getting a major detail once I make it mine. Then it may look a little better also with some wax on it. Elderly folks don’t typically learn about proper detail and ceramic / graphene so we will see how much it cleans up.

New radiator @115k 👍 recirc operating as should! Thanks guys all super helpful.

That does not mean they put in the newer upgraded radiator.. just that it was replaced.

You can tell by looking at the top of the rad, or if you post a pic of the top someone will tell you if it is the newer version of the rad.

I’ll do it tomorrow! Thanks
