Hi Folks,

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but when I tried to do a search of this folder for "repair manual," I got no results. Chilton' s offers an online manual for an annual fee, but I'd like a hard copy which I can't seem to find. In my search for a Haynes repair manual that covers a 2007 Lexus GX 470, I discovered that Haynes doesn't offer one for that make, model and year. But I discovered it does offer one for 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runners. I'm very new to the 120-series and was wondering if that 4Runner repair manual could also apply to my wife's new-to-her '07 GX 470? I'm interested in it for things like brake maintenance, fluid changes and other regular maintenance.

The official price for the FSM is around $360 (3 books). Check around on CL and other sites may get you a better price. Online manuals work, but look for discount subscription coupons. Auto parts stores (autozone..) websites offer some general and specific maintenance and repair directions for what you described. Haynes 4Runner book will give you your general maintenance, but IMHO Chilton 4Runner book (68615) is better written for the same price.

Helm Inc. sells them. For '07 they're $132 per Volume, you need 3. For an '05 they're only $80 per volume. As far as I know nothing mechanical changed between those years, only features such as Navi, wood trim color etc.

You can find new shop manuals on eBay for around $200 for all 3. I made an offer for a brand new set for an '09 for $170, he came back w/ an offer of $190.

I ended up paying $15 for a 2 day subscription here: https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInf...Oc%3d&TARGET=$SM$https://techinfo.toyota.com/ and downloaded every Lexus factory manual there is; repair, collision, electrical, accessories and other misc. stuff about our GX. It's very time consuming since you have to save each page but it sure beats paying $190+. :D

If you know what maintenance you want to do I'd just pay $15 and save what you need, then print them out and put them in a 1" binder.

Downloaded the PDFs from TIS (in the link RC shared. Cheapest route. I print a fresh copy for each job so I can get them dirty :)

Thanks, everyone, for the info. Seeing how expensive the factory manuals are, I'll probably get the Chilton's 4runner manual for now to do basic maintenance, and then go with one of the subscription manuals for anything else not covered in there.

Just to confirm, though, and sorry for the newbie question, but is it true the 07 4Runner is essentially the same drivetrain and brake system as the 07 GX 470?

4th gen V8 4Runners share the same driveline and brake systems as the GX470, the Limited trim 4Runner also shares the same rear air suspension as the GX470.

Thanks IanB. That's what I thought, just wanted to confirm.
