Rear hatch is working intermittently. My neighbor brought out the mother of all obd readers and it came up with “B2221” 4runner back door jam protection sensor.
Having a hell of a time finding that part though.
Anyone have a suggestion?
I’m guessing it’s the entire door latch.

Took door apart. Pulled apart all connections, cleaned/lubed and put back together. Reset rear ECU. Door will not open from the outside. Rear window opens up from inside and outside suv.
Now the door won’t suck down when closed.

Ever figure this out?

Yeah i replaced the rear ecu. Fixed it completely
wow, it was an ECU issue, and not the actuator itself. I replaced the actuator in my case when it started to act up.

I have this same issue and am about to order Dorman parts actuator, I hadn't thought about the ECU, when I reset the fuse the latch works once or twice but stops working shortly thereafter. I do have occasional rear window issues but it works even when the door actuator doesn't.

I sent you a PM

I just bought a 2004 4wd V8 and the rear hatch takes a few seconds before it will open. Is that normal? Press the button on the hatch, it makes a noise but won't open, a few seconds later it will open. It also has a Viper alarm installed so not sure if that has anything to do with it?
Kindly take a video, then send us the link please. There is a motorized feature of our tailgate, but I'm not sure if that is what you're noticing.

It doesn't let me upload a video as an attachment. Here is a link to it in my Dropbox. It won't open until that second unlock sound a few seconds later after the first time you press the button.
