The locking mechanism stops working and won't open. I disconnected battery and it reset so I sprayed it down good with lube. A week later does same thing. Do I need to replace the entire unit or look at another cause?

Just dealing with same issue with the daughters before she takes to college in 2 weeks.
I’ve watched videos. Reset ecu-b, no luck. Turned key all the way on, no luck with trying. Turned key on and hit unlock switch twice on door, hit dash window down and then up briefly, door opens from rear.
This is the only way I can get rear hatch open. Lubricated latch mechanism with some silicone. Window will not roll down at all with key.
Hopefully this helps you some but I’m kinda clueless why I can’t unlock car, walk up and open hatch with the above mentioned tricks which work each time??
