I'm new this forum but have lurked for a while. I'm coming from a Ranger that is far simpler. The GX470 is stock and needs some upgrading, but first I need to solve a brake problem.
Completely randomly, the brakes will start to pulsate very similarly to one or more warped rotors. But the rotors are not warped. And the pulsation seems to be just a little less often than the same spot in the wheel. To elaborate, about 1.5 turns of the wheel to one pulse. The pulsing does increase and decrease frequency along with speed. The pulsing continues during acceleration and steady speed and with tug on the steering wheel.
Also, what is strange, The second time it happened to me it got real bad causing the front of the truck to shift to the left as the rear was shifting to the right with each pulse. I pulled over and checked the lug nuts, thinking I may have a loose wheel and all wheels were tight. I never shut off the engine, but yet when I pulled away, all pulsating was gone. In my experience, warpage or material transfer does not just go away by putting a vehicle in park and then driving away in less than five minutes.
I do have a check engine light on dash (code p0051), VSC/VSC off, but no ABS. I was thinking maybe a wheel sensor, but no ABS warning, and I have read that all the various traction systems that use brakes are disabled when the check engine light is on. So I am stumped. Any ideas or avenues to follow to solve this problem?
