Worth a try... but swapping the rear shocks isn't particularly fun. If her LC is factory otherwise (ie, nothing heavy... bumpers, drawers, etc.) and has no plans for those, OEM shocks may be better. Keep in mind that the rear springs are stiffer also.
If there isn’t any rust, rear shocks aren’t too bad with a hinge neck wrench.

Can you run OEM shocks on a Lexus LX470 with the 1 1/2" OME Medium suspension kit? Wouldn't they be to short?

That's the setup I have with 865s in the rear and new stock shocks and have had no problems, and guys who have built up rigs are running this combo and aren't having any problems (one of the reasons I went with this combo).

I had the OME shocks installed for about a month and finally had enough and replaced with all new Toyota (Tokico) shocks and hardware.

I'm shocked by the lack of complaints with the nitro shocks that come with the ome kit. They're horrible!

So you're saying i can get a proper lift and still keep my lovely oem shocks?! I'm sold!

Would anyone know the difference in length between oem and nitro shocks? Any lost travel?

I'm shocked by the complaints, I think it feels very planted and balanced. If you are really concerned about ride you should fork up the cash for an Icon setup.

My friend did, stage 3 i believe, with external reservoirs. Definitely not worth the $2200+ he spent on shocks.

Sheesh! With all this kind of talk, I think you guys need to trade your Land Cruisers for Buick Enclaves and then maybe you can achieve the suspension feel you desire...

Well the thing with these 100 cruisers is their off road abilities plus their super smooth ride compared to what's out there. So yeah, i personally would be picky about it's ride quality considering it spends 99.9% of it's time on paved roads. But that's just me.

I own the OME sports shocks and 863 coils and have to say they are stiff. Even with front/rear ARB bumpers, winch, full size spare,60” lift jack, Jerry can, Slee sliders and running 35” tires just barely makes them tolerable. The give and take here is how it soaks up dips, takes hard curves and turns, rarely bottoms out!
A while back I got side swiped on the freeway going 70 mph and I went into a fish tailing frenzy! I honestly don’t think I would have saved it had I not been riding on this stiff ride. There are pro’s and cons, hard to find that perfect ride quality zone especially with the variance of weights we each carry.

The amount of people complaining about the ride being too stiff is puzzling. Christo at Slee even warned me about it - probably because of all the ladies on this forum whining about it.. People are buying suspension components to handle more weight and more ability off road, but yet it's too stiff? That's like ordering a beer, taking a drink and saying it tastes too much like beer. I just installed the OME Nitrocharger shocks along with the OME Torsion Bars and 2865 rear coils and the ride is amazing. It finally feels like a truck and not mommy's SUV. If you ladies want a softer ride, buy the Bilstein 4600 series: they're dog s*** compared to the OME shocks but will definitely keep you from spilling your pumpkin spice latte's on your way to Yoga.

Feel better now?

Comfort is subjective. Everyone has their own preference.

Geez I’m scared to ask your opinion on women. Take the tough guy stuff to Facebook pal.

This, someone coming from a stock vehicle will probably think the OME Nitro's are harsh. Someone coming from a modified off road truck or a lowered car with poly bushings might think differently. Now with the options we have now, everyone can get what they want.

I agree. I'm just confused by the expectations of some. The truck is so heavy that anything soft feels inadequate over big bumps, including driveways and speed bumps.

I had the same issues after doing the Slee medium lift and added the Trail Tailor front extended sway bar links and it significantly changed the ride quality. much less harsh on street bumps now...

Yep. Get as much of the geometry as correct as you can, and the ride significantly improves. OME 860s and the standard yellow NitroCharger shocks were great...at the weight I carried. I have full Slee skids and a set of ARB drawers (full) in the back though.

I just changed the springs and shocks out tonight for Tough Dogs due to adding a BIOR bumper and a full size spare. The mediums could no longer handle all the weight I'm dragging around on the daily (7520 pounds! on a half tank of gas, according to the Port of Entry scale in Price a couple weeks ago).

I don't get why anyone wants their 5000+ lb bus of an SUV to ride sporty. I'm in the "Pumpkin Spice Latte" camp and I'm cool with it. :)

I've got a sports/GT car for good handling/speed. The best 100 series suspension setup still feels laughable compared to a half-decent sports car so I think it's best to just keep it comfy. I want my Cruiser set up for Cruisin'.

There's also a big weight component here. An armored truck and a stock truck have completely different suspension requirements and I'm not sure everyone understands that.
