So I recently replace my exhaust system from the manifolds back and the job went really well. Like a little too easy. Job was done cranked it up and still had the reoccurring code 28.... so I dug in a bit and started tracing back wiring. I find that the previous owner had spliced the O² wiring at some point and it was just laying on top of the transmission not connected to anything. Now this usually would be a problem and just resplice it with crimps and heat shrink however I can't find the end heading to the ecu. No wires for it that I can find anywhere to splice back together. Where should I be looking? Do these wires run back to the engine bay? I'm at a loss here.

If I recall the O2 sensors both lead into the main harness and after that I have no idea. It’s a hot mess of wires in there.

I am going to assume you have a '93 or '94 model. Originally the O2 wiring would have come from the sensor disconnects, over the top of the transmission and into the main engine harness just above the starter motor.
Not uncommon for these wires to get brittle with age and a few people will short cut the wiring to eliminate the portion over the transmission and go directly to the where the main harness goes through the firewall to the ECU. The O2 sensors may even have been relocated to the maniforlds.

Sorry I should have stated that mine is a 1992. I'd think it does about the same though. I'll dig a little deeper.

So just an update and another question. I figure out the wiring for the O² sensor. The PO had stuffed the wires back in the harnesses. Once I dug around this was a fairly easy fix. The problem I have now is I found a couple of wires going over the transmission and plugging into the transmission on the drivers side that are cut...and idea where these head to? No more cut wires in the harness so I'm guess it doesn't go there.
