I was wondering if there those new compact "jump start" battery packs would be a viable alternative for powering a 12v fridge for a couple days when you are camped and the vehicle is off.
Something like this:

My wife and I made time for 2 weeks of camping in the cruiser late July. We started by heading East on the Crowsnest to meet some friends from Edmonton. Our plan was to scope out a few of the more naturally situated hotsprings in the area: Lussier and Skookumchuck. We poked around for a few...
80 series fender flares, wide style. The common Grey/Blue JDM color. They are in good shape, a bit of pin striping. One of the front flares suffered a crack at some point, appears to be treated with resin on the inside. would only be visible from underneath, once installed.
All gaskets are...
Getting rid of some stuff that came with my truck when I bought it.

Good reminder of how quickly things go sideways when you are rushed and not paying attention to the details.
Anyone interested in going in on this with me? 2 for 1 ends Dec 3. I would have it shipped to my box in Blain. Would come in at around $100US (plus duty perhaps) for the L5 model, which looks adequate I think.

A few of us decided we wanted to squeeze a quick trip up whipsaw before snow locked us out til next summer. Nathan (natecher) volunteered his '89 HJ61 on 33" ATs to haul me, him and his dad up to the trail head where we camped Friday night. Buy the time we arrived at the Corral Creek Cabin...
I've been on the road for the better part of a month, Yukon, Alaska, BC (9000+ Kms!). Will be meeting some friends in Princeton tomorrow... May as well do Whipsaw :hhmm:. I'm counting on it being busy, any other CC'ers going to be on the trail between Saturday and Monday?
A little bit of "tech":
A friend of mine made a fridge cover for me and I thought it turned out great. The fabric was free (sample fabric for theater seats = tough canvas). I got a role of this stuff for insulation: http://www.homedepot.ca/product/reflectix-bubble-pack-2x10/902355

10ish lastnight, A prelude came screaming down our road, the driver admitted he was going 90, came over a little hump in the road, lost traction and started fish tailing, swerved to avoid car in oncoming lane, smoked the DS rear of our Mazda 3, pushed...
My wife and I just got back from 5 days in the Cruiser. I think we did the exact same route that other CC members have done past summers; we used their trip reports to plan our route. We did the trip with another couple in a HJ61.
We started at the Whipsaw trailhead 15k West of Princeton...
I'm getting ready to start on a plywood drawer system for the back of my HDJ81 and I would like to be able to physically take a look at what someone else has done. I'd like to see how sturdy it feels with x/x plywood, how you went about connecting corners, drawer hardware if used. I've...
Hi there, does anyone have any expeiriances dealing with Silk Road Autos in Surrey? I've seen that they have sold a few HDJ80's over the last few months. My impression is that they do a few standard mods before selling them: all the 80's i've seen on there lot have a rear folding bed...
Hi there, I'm new here, just wondering if anyone has any insight into a little issue I'm having with my '85 BJ73. When my speedo hits 105 km/h, I start getting a loud beep every 2 or 3 seconds. It doesn't actually prevent me from going faster, its just really annoying. I'm guessing that the...
