Compressor was replaced because of seal leaks and bearing squeal. Clutch would not engage and AC light flashing.

System was vacuumed, new desiccant bag and filter. Was able to add about 8 oz of 134 without benefit of compressor turing on.

Push the AC button, light comes on, engine idles up from 750 rpm to 1100 for three seconds, then AC light starts flashing. No clutch engagement, same as prior to replacement.

Sensor diagnostic: Outside temp, rear fan, and defrost switch on the left side all flashing simultaneously. Can not find any info relating to these three.

Have voltage at low pressure sensor and relay. Swapped relays, no change.

High and low side pressures about equal at 110 psi. Ambient temp is 95 degrees.

Would really appreciate guidance at this point.

8 oz of Freon is not enough, you probably need about a 1 1/2 pounds or so. check the label under the hood for the correct amount, refill the system with the correct amount and recheck

36 oz total and no change.
If there were a previous compressor lock, would the clutch not work until the code was cleared?
Should I jump the relay? Could use some help on what terminal jumps to what.

Checked the AC relay by both ohming and applying 12 volts. Checks out fine.
Jumped the relay terminals in the fuse box. Have 12 volts at lock sensor connector.
Clutch will not engage.
Powered the 12v to clutch relay terminal in fuse box by direct hookup to battery. Again have 12 volts at lock sensor connector.
Clutch still not engaging.
Service manual says applying 12 volts from battery to number 3 pin on lock sensor connector should cause clutch to engage. Does not.
Checked the lock sensor resistance on compressor connector. Should be between 570 and 1,050 ohms. It reads 850 ohms.
Wondering if the new Nippondenso compressor has a bad magnetic clutch despite having a good lock sensor.

1998-2000 All Engines w/ Front & Rear AC ... R134a 39.00 oz. I put in 3 cans which is 36 oz.
Gauges equalized at 110 PSI at 96 degrees Fahrenheit ambient without compressor functioning.

Did you manually check the clutch engagent on the new compressor?

Did you manually check the clutch engagent on the new compressor?

As per FSM ran wire from battery positive to terminal 3 on magnetic clutch coupler.
Clutch not engaging.
