Just replaced the bushings last Summer. I'll check them again. Hope it's not them, what a PITA the first. This time would be easier since they're not 30+ years old.

OK I've had it. For a while, when I go over bumps or hit my brakes, I get a "metal on metal" sound coming(I think) from the front right hand side of my truck?? I sounds like my tie rods or something is rubbing something. I've looked and looked, can't see anything that's rubbing...

I have a 73 J40 with a Chevy 350 and stock tranny/t-case. I've had an old 1980 3/4 ton GMC w/4 speed and granny gear(two wheel drive) pick up for a while. I'm going to junk the pick up since by J40 keeps me busy enough.

So, I just replaced all my rear cylinders. Now, one(maybe both) have given up on the front passenger side. I hoping to do disc next year and really don't want to spend a fortune on new ones.
Anybody have one in the Portland, Oregon metro area they are not using and will help me...
Well, I got home and sure enough, it was set on "6 cylinder" I now run at about 3000 rpm's at around 50-55 mph. As far as gas mileage goes, yeah, it's hard not to "get on it" when you have a 350/dual exhaust and you've been working on it for over two years. I could probably get around 10 mpg...
THANK GOD!!!!! I looked at the instructions for the tach(if all else fails) I didn't even know there was a 6 cylinder setting. My cruiser moves, but not 90mph!! so I must the tach set wrong.
Phew, now I'll change the setting and see what I've got. If I'm around 3000 rpm at 70mph, I can...
