I was under the impression the wheel is not supposed to be centered to allow for the axle to move back as the suspension moves back?
The Reverend Ian's looks pretty far forward though.
Looks like it could move back an inch? I thought the Dobs springs were gooder than the OME? Moving the axle on the spring may slightly help the ride, more leverage on the short side? Id redrill and shift back before spending money on springs...
Finishing up the install. More pics to come. Happy with the Redline Kit, talked with them on the phone a couple times during to clarify a couple things.
Did you ever sell that last ‘80 fj40? Im still sitting on the ‘79 I bought from you a couple years ago. I’ve been distracted by other cruiser’s but hope to get it up and driving this winter.
Toyota used slightly different than a single DIN size - if looking to use the factory dash hole, would need to be sized a bit off from that (vs basing off of industry standard DIN sizing).
I have been working on the windshield frame. Sanding and rust mitigation on the hinges. I found a local shop that can cut a front windshield and am getting a quote next week. Today I put the soft top bows on and took the family around the...
The pin through the springs is just a locator for the spring to the acle perch and u bolt plate. You just add another hole to the perch and the plate and this offsets the spring relative to the axle. So if you drill a hole in each 1” toward the...
@EWheeler ..As easily as I think I see what your saying, can you describe this to clarify it in my head… my pallet is arriving today with the spring kit and I am going to assess whether or not I do need any positional mod.
In my head (and...

At the bottom of the Vehicle Tech Forums on the main page is one called other tech. Click on the that and the top vehicle is the Bandeirante. Would try there as well.
Started my 3 inch run at the flange. Nice and tight to chassis but clear of everything. Portrd it for the downpipe from the manifold above it.
And then downpipe
Tomorrow I will add another flange to the back of the 3", and then from there the...

The first thing we checked was that the engine was not seized. It turned over easily by hand. Too easily, in fact. Did a quick visual on the timing and filed off a little nub that had developed on the points contacts, poured a little two-stroke...
Seeing more & more more listed for sale locally, but everyone is still out to lunch on pricing for what they have. I've seen probably 5 40's locally in the last 3 years that were properly priced, and one that was underpriced (bought it!). Most...
Well, it seems that I'm becoming a bit of a Land Cruiser hoarder - at least temporarily.
A few months ago I added a 1971 FJ40 to the stable, but because it was a long ways away, I haven't even been able to give it a once-over. That changed this...
Well, got most everything ordered for the trans/t-case refresh. (Thanks @orangefj45 Georg) with the exception of the fluids and tubes of goo. Doing the oil pan gasket and RMS as well for good measure.
About to leave for a round of work trips, 4...
I recently installed an FJ60 wheel on Lilred (1977 FJ40).It’s about an inch smaller in diameter but still easy to turn and steer with manual steering. Only modification was drilling and installing the two turn signal cancelling pins. Not sure if...

80 series and 100 series have this option. The 80 series uses a valve and a handle to switch hoses. The 100 series has two holes you just angle the nozzle to the right tank to fill it. 100 series style seems more achievable...
