Depending on the size of the stump, pulling in reverse could be a good way to nuke your front diff. You'd be using the weak side of the gears, and that axle would have the majority of the traction.

Drove the Cruiser for the first time since we got back from our recent 3 week road trip. It’s easy to forget how solid it is util you drive around in your minivan for a couple weeks. Paddling was fun, no sunburns.
