Um, no please. As a general rule, you fix your brakes before you make it drive.
You would rather be stuck in your garage wishing you could go than going down the road wishing you could stop.
I've had it happen where I've forgotten to reattach the engine ground after working on the engine and it ran like garbage until I realized my mistake. Cleaned the contacts and reconnected the ground wire and it went back to normal. Your ignition...
That is a 3B. Earlier ones have a steel valve cover, later they moved to a cast aluminum cover.
Edit: the non-stock intake makes me wonder if it's a 3B out of a commercial truck or forklift. Hard to say.
I'm currently battling the same problem. I chose the route of using some CLR to soak up in that area. I also use a curved pick to get up inside. I liked the doubled up wire in a drill that another member suggested.
Anyway, it helps soften...
Thanks Knuck’s,
Here she is a bit more revealing for this morning’s ride into the city…
There is a lot to like about the soft top and a lot to like about a hard top.
The first thing we checked was that the engine was not seized. It turned over easily by hand. Too easily, in fact. Did a quick visual on the timing and filed off a little nub that had developed on the points contacts, poured a little two-stroke...
Well, it seems that I'm becoming a bit of a Land Cruiser hoarder - at least temporarily.
A few months ago I added a 1971 FJ40 to the stable, but because it was a long ways away, I haven't even been able to give it a once-over. That changed this...
Really digging the new wheels and cage, but damn now I can really feel a harmonic vibration above 2k rpms. It doesn’t change if I’m sitting still, clutch in or clutch out. New motor mounts are on the way, as mine are in bad shape all around...
All wheels are mounted with extended lug nuts and they handle noticeably better. I’m thrilled with the look. In fact they’re so much smoother running now I can really feel a driveline vibration above 2k rpm’s in all gears!
Also had my dad help...
Solid Axle Summit 9: big success. New motor performed flawlessly. My only minor quibble is that with the already lower vacuum and high altitude cutting the vacuum even further, the brakes were a bit soft at times. Not dangerously so, but just a...
Forgot about this… I put my 13 year old behind the wheel for the first time earlier this week. She putzed around an empty parking lot at night for 5 minutes. @POTATO LAUNCHER recommendation of putting first time drivers in low range gearing was...
72 is somewhere round the change date - does your cluster have the quick release speedo cable and plug in wiring or the earlier threaded speedo and individually wired gauges? If its the later type the fuel gauge will also have 3 nuts securing it...
I posed the question of whether anyone had seen a repository of information on OE hardware manufacturers and approximate manufacturing timelines. Not much response. But while the majority of folks are content to reassemble their projects with...
I've been procrastinating on this repair for a while now, partly because I hate doing things twice. When I bought this 40, it had a nasty tear in the right fender. I hammered it back into shape and then welded it up, but unfortunately I got a...
Diesllibrarian, I've
been searching the 60 series form and resources for a6 60 series FSM I can download. I’ve come up empty. Would you please offer me link or a breadcrumb trail I can follow to find a PDF version I can download Thanks in...
