Not true with my former FJ62. Possibly the front T and A are the only letters that can and do come off? I lost one of mine, the other came loose.
Good luck finding replacements. Cruiser parts.com perhaps

The 'Test kit' plug will disable the EGR. The BB's are there to prevent the risk of a vacuum leak, just in case something around there is awry. Like @baldilocks said, if the EGR was stuck open, the idle would be all wonky. Simply disabling the...
FWIW it takes barely any effort to secure the wiring harness away from the EGR pipe, even a small air gap is enough to separate the two from damaging heat transfer. I haven't checked the temperature but I doubt the pipe gets very hot once the EGR...
Hey @Devils Paw 80 photo of my build are in my signature (built thread) not certain I will have the time to do another route especially if I want the catch up with the others further up...
I would recommend that he, you, or someone you guys trust take a look in person at the undercarriage. Yeah, someone took black paint to the frame.
Considering that the body looks good, it's unlikely the frame is too bad, but ya never know...
You just need this. 1995-1997 FZJ80 EGR Temp Sensor Test Plug Kit - https://huddexpo.com/1995-1997-fzj80-egr-temp-sensor-test-plug-kit/

My 80 series (now with 350K miles) has been MUCH more reliable than my 100 series (now at 265K miles) and I've had to put MUCH less money into it for maintenance and repairs.
I'm going to get philosophical; you need to know what you want in the end. Examples include...
-A beater to last a few months
-a ugly but capable rock crawler
-a completely restored bone stock "new" old beast
-a non daily driver project that you...
Air bag light fix is complicated? It's not familiar to me. Dunno about a reasonable price these days. Maybe $10K max? It seems like they are selling for a bit less over the past year or so. I paid $5500 for one with same miles, no rust...
That’s a lot of negatives. Sounds like a neglected rig. The passion seems weak with this one. What’s the owners explanation for the bad brakes? Could need a new master cylinder and power steering pump for starters.
$15K is way too high.
Compression test results:
#1 176psi
#2 150psi
#3 140psi
#4 150psi
#5 35psi
#6 36psi
Cylinder 5 still seems to be running though, noticeable change when spark plug wire is pulled while the engine is running. 6 seems to be completely dead.
