After 10 years of owning Land Cruisers (2 40’s, 60, 2 80’s) here on Oahu, we still have not found any mechanics to reliably work on LC’s, especially older ones. Unfortunately, it’s best to learn how to fix the issues yourself. We’ve never had a...
I find the 2H is quite sensitive to the level of the vehicle when checking oil.. minor changes in how the vehicle is sitting can give quite different readings on the dip stick
Usually the clicking issue is fixed by replacing the solenoid plunger and contacts. Cheap and easy, no real mechanical skills required.
The pinion should move in both directions. In one direction it will turn freely, in the other it will turn...
Need some help here. Trying to diagnose a no spark issue.
Backstory, did a full rebuild on the motor and a frame off but has sat for 2yrs and was left outside (unbeknownst to me) in the rain without windows for 3 months. Never had a turnover...
You said you had all the answers Duncan.
The OEX part number is CXD0087.
It is 24v for a Isuzu truck. Bolts on to a 12H-T and lines up perfectly, same belt and all.
You must get new hoses as well. The molecules of R134a are a lot smaller that...
Your options are to replace the magnetic clutch yourself as very few AC shops will guarantee the work, or convert the whole system over to R134a.
I just did the conversation and it is not cheap, all new hoses, seals and compressor. Because of...
I see it now! Ugh, that's such a stupid place to cut it and no reason to do that for any sort of swap, that is the main harness to the battery. So dumb!
Yeah, you'd want to swap the "dash harness" basically all the wires under the dash and that...
Label every connector and take a photo of everything. Lay the harness out beside the car and clean every connector. It is just time consuming, not hard.
The only thing i can add to this topic is it seems at around this age the ECU capacitors can go bad. I have seen reports of odd problems caused by this.
I wrestled with one on a 2jz engine recently. I bought the car cheap because the mechanic chip couldn’t get the crankshaft pulley bolt out. I went through 3 breaker bars before I figured it out.
For anyone else that ever wrestles with this...
