I just installed a 15B-FT in my BJ70 to replace my 3B. It has been an absolute game changer on the highway and a clear improvement around town.
As a possible aid in your research ... It is my understanding that there might be a few 15B-FT...
I too had a failed FPR that (I believe) eventually killed the pump. Truck ran fine until it wouldn't start one morning, pump running but no flow.
Just reference for yourself or anyone reading the thread to troubleshoot fuel issues... install a...
These old engines can get the spark plugs oily and then black by running the engine for short jaunts - not allowing everything to get real hot and burn crud off.
Short trips play hell on the spark plugs.
I'm actually in the same boat as @puffah. I was planning all year to remove, clean out and adjust my heater core and related controls this month, since at least one vent seems blocked and several of the sliders have minimal slide range. I even...
You want someone to give you a step-by-step? Have you tried having a go at it? It's not difficult. In fact in the factory service manual, it's a single step.

Quality indeed…bought a few for my dual Optima’s many moons ago. These FJ60/62 14ga. SS baby’s are built to last way beyond your Land Cruiser’s last breath!
The stainless trays i got from Noel are apart from the billet alloy rear vent covers, the best bling i have purchased for the cruiser. If he is still making them, get it whilst you can.
Stock water pump, stock Fan Clutch (or any flavor Toyota FC), stock fan and you're good.
If you're having heating issues, and all the other mechanicals are good, there should be some FOAM surrounds on the fan shroud to kind of seal it against...
Sounds absolutely fine to me. 4 cylinder engines are inherently unbalanced and the L engines don't have balance shafts. They are also very high compression so you can expect them to rock. You can try adjusting the idle speed to find a sweet spot...
How are the engine mounts?
I've always found the little 4 cylinder L Series Diesels to have a slightly sub-optimal idle, maybe its just the nature of the 4 cylinders. The 6 cylinders idle much more gracefully
I can confirm that the 15BF l'm fitting to my 80 series chassis has the engine mount brackets at 50 degrees. The old 80 series chassis mounts were at 40 degrees which was the 1FZ petrol. I cut and changed them to be at 50 degrees.
