I will start by saying thank you to everyone on here. Past and present. I bought my 470 in February and thought I was way in over my head. If it wasn’t for this forum, I do not think I would be happy with my purchase like I am now.
My 2000...
Skip the chin. It doesn’t blend with the rest of the lines. But if you reduced its size a bit and pulled it back under the main/upper section a bit - like 15-20mm, and put the OE running boards on, maybe it would work. I mean, we still wouldn’t...
Well... now, I'm invested in this thread. I just checked my '06 (same taillights) and, with the headlights and taillights on - nope. Tried the hazards - nope. Brake lights - nope. What are the odds, our 100s malfunctioning the same way? 1 in a...
How does it compare to the aftermarket stuff, e.g. Tupelo's and ACC's? I just had ACC's mass-backed carpet put in my 100 by the shop that redid the leather, and didn't see the OE carpet that came out.
Lloyds in Light Gray in a NON STOCK gray interior. My carpet and leather are new. The leather is virtually a match for the OE leather, the carpet is a bit darker than OE.
I did end up throwing away the WeatherTechs and getting the Lloyds. They just fit better; they lay flat and don't curl up. But in fairness to WeatherTech, I don't need my mats to hold a gallon of mud and water. ;-)
I'm happy to crawl through it with you. I'm in Smyrna, about 10 minutes from the Battery. You are more than welcome to drive my '06 (as long as you have insurance...) to get a feel for VVT-i and 5spd.
I think you're looking in all the right places. But, those data points - miles, CarFax, etc. - only tell part of the story. Once you're in to the 180k + range, maintenance is a HUGE factor. Two seemingly identical 100s, e.g. 200,000 miles...
I'm (mostly) with @2000UZJ on this one. I like #5. But, I'm not as quick to rule out "minor accidents" IF (big if) you can verify it was superficial, e.g. a bumper and fender repair, no (!) frame/suspension damage, etc. I'll take paint work...
If you lived in the northeast, I'd agree that it's manageable, but there is no reason to buy a 100 series in Houston with that kind of rust. Take your time, you'll find a rust free one here in Texas and your life will be MUCH easier every day...
Once sliders get scuffed up or faded, I rattle can them too. If anyone ever catches me polishing sliders... please shoot me
I suspect the paint correction steps just sanded (very lightly sanded) off the oxidized layer of the powder coat...
A few weeks ago, I almost sold the 100 (I know, I know). To set things right, and to keep the universe in balance, I've been spending money and time on the 100 - new leather, carpet, bushings, ball joints... soft, fluffy pads and spa treatments...
I used to be a huge fan of BFG ATs - the first gen, KO2s, etc. I've had 10 or 12 sets over the years - Jeeps, Toyotas... I'm on my 3rd set on the 100. Don't get me wrong, I still think they're amazing - great on and off-road performance, amazing...
w/r to necessary: thinking that a drop would be ok w. new cv's, but might not be so good with used cv's as the rubber has "gotten used to" the angles.
do I know what I'm talking about....no....it's just a thought.
Thread dredge in 3... 2...
Hey @Mike NXP did you ever experiment with the non-OE side molding? Mine are looking pretty bad - I either need to replace or refurb.
Need an update on this! I was at ACC Garage today and looked at the components - soon to be installed in a GX460. The bezel/surround, etc. seem well-maid - almost OEM. How are you guys liking the setup?

@Couvi, same here - jeans, shorts, etc. always try sit on the seat vs. sliding into the seat. Height? Maybe? I'm wondering if it's environmental - my 100 lives in the sun in Atlanta.... just baking... and baking...
@MongooseGA, Thanks!
