City Racer doesn't make the horn, he just makes the hose. Im thinking about printing / selling the intake horn after I'm done prototyping my current project, but if someone is already doing that, no need.
I have seen some very tall guys behind the wheel of a 45. Many years ago Ron Null delivered a transmission to me in his FJ45 and I couldn't believe he was remotely comfortable in there driving up and down the West Coast. I don't believe you will...
For those of you who have been on Mud a while, you may know me. But for those who've joined in the last 6 or 7 years, I'm really no one.
I've been a Cruiser guy since I was nearly 3 when my folks bought a brand new '72 FJ40 at Lyons Toyota in...
This is what I did. Live near a military base so these cans were easy to source. All removable when the extra gear isn't needed as they are just strapped down. The Jump seats remain functional if I have rear passengers. Also added a spare...
It is very helpful when you are going uphill or just in some rocks and you stall the engine. Just put it low range and first gear and crank the starter without pressing on the clutch. The starter will turn the engine which will turn the wheels...
Here is the gasketed tunnel after the adhesive cured and the gem clips were removed. The next morning the clip imprints in the foam rubber had pushed back up flush.
Next step is to renovate the rear heater hoses that run along the passenger...
I decided to organize my ongoing project progress as a Build instead of scattering threads randomly across the tech section.
I’m going to have to pull a Star Wars … and start a bit after the middle. This is the story of Jolene, a 1968 FJ40 I...
Five years into my resto, I've finally decided to start a thread so I can quit spamming the "What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?" thread. 🙂
MARFJ40 is a April '76 U.S. spec FJ40. Mar is what my dad goes by now. His name is Lamar...
New cowl vent drain tubes from City racer. I put some old screen under the vent to maybe keep out some crud. Was leaking into footwell. Wish i remembered the grommets too, lol
Added another to the herd. This was a customers truck, we did many projects for him including a fresh hub to hub disc brake axle w/powder-coated parts, 3FE (a local shop installed) in front of an new H55F/split-case (with park-brake) we built...
It's a 78. Vent windows in the hard top, spare tire carrier and round bezel make it a 77 or 78. The windshield washer nozzle in the top of the frame make a 78. If the three points seat belts are attached to the roll bar it's a 2/78-12/78. Seat...
Yesterday evening, this 74 (or maybe 75, 76) rolled into my Kennewick Washington cul-de-sac, latched down to a trailer. Poor soul is headed for auction.
Talking with the owners grandson, it was owned by one of our local farmers who bought it...
I cut down a pair of these type of semi truck mud flap hangers to work on my FJ40. They are easy to remove if needed. The mounting part just bolts to the frame inside the rear fenders. Easy project that has worked well for many years.
This will be the build thread/documentation (not sure how I get the “Builds” tag) for my new-to-me 1976 FJ40 named Otis. The truck was named by the previous to the previous owner, and it fits so the name happily will stay. I bought Otis from...
Got all the turnbuckles installed in the soft top and some new footman loops on the tailgate.
Solid top. Looks great.
Went on a nice test drive.
It runs good. Has a little pop and backfire and hesitation during wide open throttle runs.
