I'm happy to crawl through it with you. I'm in Smyrna, about 10 minutes from the Battery. You are more than welcome to drive my '06 (as long as you have insurance...) to get a feel for VVT-i and 5spd.
I'm (mostly) with @2000UZJ on this one. I like #5. But, I'm not as quick to rule out "minor accidents" IF (big if) you can verify it was superficial, e.g. a bumper and fender repair, no (!) frame/suspension damage, etc. I'll take paint work...
I would not purchase a 100 Series, with an accident reported. These trucks are already entering the "nickel & dime" phase. #5 sounds promising, as long as the maintenance is acceptable. I drive mine ~5K per year, and don't really offroad anymore...
Not saying the hammer marks caused the failure, just that it's an indicator of someone that maybe uses force over finesse. Could be he pressed them on with the boots on and they got caught in the cup. They both looks like they're split evenly...
She's all sold. It's been a fun ride. My LX570 is NOT nearly as cool. I'll return to a 100 series one day, or maybe even an 80.
Thanks for all the tips & advice along the way MUD. I'll be in the 200 section for the foreseeable future.
That’s a pretty good idea. Another DIY option is to weld in a section from a 2nd gen Tundra. Thats what “Russian Alex” did. I don’t know the guy, just DM’d on IG (@carpenter_by_night).
“I grafted in a section of a 2nd gen tundra frame to my...
New product coming soon!
This is an auxbeam/switchpro/fuse panel/etc tray mount that'll fit all the 100 series, 98-07. It fits next to the fuse box in the engine bay & lets you mount all manner of things. The horizontal portion fits the...
It is plug and play after everything is wired up. The reason people use the Teyes is to avoid this. If you want to go this route, I suggest a better quality head unit. No reason to go Teyes if you want physical buttons.
I picked up the 100 yesterday and I couldn't be happier. The first thing I had to do was adjust the mirrors. I knew the old foam - 20 years and 200,000 miles - had collapsed a bit. Since it was my ass in that seat for 15 of those years and...
Hey guys,
So after sleeping on it, I decided I do not want to spend my time buying, selling and wiring non-nav units. I want to get out and drive my rig and not be the nav delete supplier.
I will answer some questions that came up and my...
I would be very interested in a PnP system. My dream is the OE HVAC Controls, paired with a CC3 Teyes, or similar. That would be epic. I'm not a fan of on-screen HVAC, the only reason the OEM exists in my car is a lack of options, and the fact...
New product alert: Extended hatch release handles!
This was a request from a customer - he has a camera mounted to his license plate frame, and his kids kept destroying the camera looking for the tailgate hatch release.
I initially thought...
On the bright side that’s 300k+ solid miles before it went out, pretty impressive to me. I have the Hewitt SAI bypass kit installed around 4 years ago and haven’t had any P0420 related issues since. It basically bypasses the SAI motor and alters...
