IME for on-pavement driving the radiator splash pan isn't absolutely required, for off-road/rough roads it may be more important to help protect the radiator. FWIW I haven't noticed any difference in engine temps with or without the splash pan...

Just Dashes can rebuild anything vinyl covered to like new condition. They just finished my FJ55 upper and lower dash pads, instrument cluster surround, and glovebox door. Pricey but better than when new (at least for almost 50 yo parts given...

I recovered my dash myself. Wasn't very difficult. You can have it done professionally as well. Mine is the early dash. The later dash would be more difficult but very doable. Its also a good time to integrate more gauges into the dash, or a...

I bet there is something wrong with the control panel. Like mentioned above check the board and reflow the solder but You may have to replace it.

have you reflowed the solder on your climate controls circuit board? cold solder joint was the issue with my possessed climate controls. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/erractic-heater-temp-control-fix.784215/

Two of the series back from watch repair. New power cells, buffed and cleaned. One needed a new crown stem. I’m still chasing a foreign seller that likely scammed me on a 4th one.

Too bad Toyota doesn't (or can't) give people a heads up when they're going to discontinue parts (?millions of part numbers) but if they could they'd likely get hundreds of orders if people knew certain parts were about to go extinct. ie: a...

FWIW I tighten new studs just about gorilla tight, not enough to snap or twist them, but all the way down until the unthreaded section is fully seated into the threaded hole ie: I don't stop as soon as the unthreaded portion first hits the edge...

If the window is getting stuck going up or down then something is broken, bent, twisted, binding. Could be the rubber glass run is binding from being dried out. If it isn't the rubber glass run then probably need to pull the regulator and motor...

Since my post from 16 years ago I've had a few more stuck filters, one other simple method if working in your driveway (on a FZJ80), first clean the filter off very well with brake cleaner, squeaky clean, then do the same for your hand, then just...

Same problem, struggled for a couple of days (I'm not proud) trying to remove the old oil filter. Tried several oil filter removal tools and none did the trick, mostly because of the tight fit. Finally this one did the trick, worth every penny of...

Just FYI, it has been 500 miles since the oil change to Chevron XSP 400 15w-40. It has not been on any long hard trips, but the consumption has been reported out as zero.

      Run it!

Running a 15w-40 diesel engine oil in it will help clean it up with its more robust detergent package.

Found the issue. Counterfeit spark plugs. Thanks Amazon... I attached pictures the one on the right is from Oreilly, the left is the amazon purchase made from pure Chinesium, it also has more blue racing stripes. BTW... We put seafoam in the oil...

As mentioned, the glass can come up out of the "window channel" that attaches it to the regulator or the window channel can be loose where it attaches to the regulator: Some previous threads...

I think bypassing the hardline is a good idea. Since the heater valve is mounted to the body, the short hose/hardline scheme pushes/pulls on the heater valve every time the engine torques on the engine mounts. This certainly can't help an aging...

I've seen much worse with really good compression test results. i say try it out and see how it goes. the oil flush after you get it running is a great idea.

Nearly $1k in parts, and easily 10hrs labor to strip and clean knuckles, replace calipers, rotors, fabricate replacement lines, wrestle with rusty bolts, bleed brakes, or everything back together. Sounds about right at $2k Don't want to be...

Pull up a chair, this will be a long one. Today, I was laying under the 1993 80 waiting for the slow drip on the oil change to achieve whatever slow cadence I've used over the decades to cue reinstalling the drain bolt. My wife pulled up and I...

Or, buy a couple feet of gates green stripe or even white strip hose and two constant torque clamps like Breeze offers and use this to run from the head outlet up to the heater valve eliminating one hose and two clamps and the steel pipe...

If you live in a colder region, ditch the phh and associated piping. Run a length of hose from phh to the firewall. Set it up like a 1HZ/1hdt/1HD-FT diesel and install a convection heater.

I have to agree with above. Won't really know how bad it is until the head comes off. The OP might get lucky, for awhile, but then might get increased oil usage/burning, low compression, low oil pressure, engine knocking, then a bearing spins...

That does not look good. Those cylinder walls look pitted. Oil mixed with coolant forms acids that destroy bearings. I see no point in doing just a cylinder head. I think you would be better off with a good used engine if your in a jam financially.
