When I ordered my H55F and split transfer case I had the parking brake added because I liked it with the 4 speed and only time it was a issue was when the seal leaked on the output shaft. I also did not want D-rotors on the rear axle when I...
Lol you said crappy American brake. The only thing crappy was the install and not using a proportioning valve. Nothing wrong with those calipers. I have used them for years with no issues.
It is gonna be odd when the u-bolt snaps at the bent threads where the crack has started. New u-bolts and beefier plates IMO. If that axle gets free it could be a wild ride.
What was the thought process on tightening those u-bolts and u-bolt plate to yield or is there some strange fish eye effect going on that makes them look very much bent?
Something wrong if you need new pad every year 🤔
With stock 40 MC you change the residual valve for a 2lb , (drum is 10lb) and an adjustable proportioning valve for the rear. Or use a fj80 MC for disc and no abs
You can get a factory parking...
So the burn ban which was now in place was very limiting. We learned that a Stage 1 ban in Wyoming means that fires are allowed only in developed campgrounds, which are not really our style. However, we found some good middle ground: these canvas...
Wes and I had talked about maybe getting to Yellowstone if we had the energy to get that far north. By this point, Jackson was only about 60 miles from the south entrance. So, we pushed north and caught Old Faithful right on time.
It was really...
We drove north on 191 and arrived in Jackson for an early lunch. Had a beer and tacos at a really cool little Asian BBQ joint. It was overpriced, but we were in Jackson after all. This town is a strange mix of flashy trust funder wannabes and...
Engine will likely need to be moved if it’s not far enough from the firewall. Drive shafts will need to be lengthened and shortened.
As stated, custom bel housing, clutch, fork, 2F throw out bearing, etc.
I’d sell it as is unless you are...
Maybe you will need new engine mounts if the conversion was done with the old Downey cradle mount or if the location of the engine is not as it should be
I think you'll need either a Downey or AA bellhousing. 4 speed fork and bearing hub/retainer. Sbc flywheel, disc, and low profile pp and Toyota throw out bearing. It's been a long time since I ran a stk 40 4 speed, so I could be off.
Can't answer as to the aquala aspect, but can on whether on not to extend your 45 cab.
IMHO, of all the extended cabs I have seen, I have only ever seen 2 that looked.... OK. To my eye, extending the cab messes with the looks.
That was the main...
Love the stance of it. Rides so so much better. One of the reasons that drew me to the redline kit is the rear wheel spacing is proportionate. The Procomp springs they used to use and the new springs they had manufactured keep it perfectly center...
Up to Argentine pass in CO. Highest the cruiser has been under my ownership (13,200'), handled it well! At the top took a short hike up to the top of the ridge with my son, he had a blast!
This will be the build thread/documentation (not sure how I get the “Builds” tag) for my new-to-me 1976 FJ40 named Otis. The truck was named by the previous to the previous owner, and it fits so the name happily will stay. I bought Otis from...
The road up to Steamboat Mountain was very remote. It feels a lot like Big Bend around here.
Even though the winds were light down below, I had some concerns about it getting windy on the plateau. Sure enough, the winds kicked up right around...
