Having rebuilt a truly hydraulic A442f transmission i feel your heat issue.
We drive the unit based on a proper tranny heat gauge.
That said ensure that your internal rad cooler functions, and add a big transmission cooler.
The hdj81 performs...
You can try working from the starter to the key.
Hotwire the starter, she should kick!
On my hdj81 24v starter, I actually added a momentary switch to starter which allows a start using only one battery as an emergency option.
Could be a bad...
Now you can put the hub back on the spindle. You can also pack the outer bearing and push that into the hub as well.
Note the plate lock nut has a tooth on it. This sits in the spindle groove at the 12 o'clock position. Note there are four...
Force over time, repetitive cold and hot cycles. Eventually something has to give.
I recall a -36C morning and pure cold start, pretty certain that the ACSD was maxed out.
Not taking that chance again.
If you live in a moderate climate this thing should last forever. On the other hand those of us who content with upwards of -30C should be concerned, as I do not feel Toyota engineering considered weeks of frigid weather.
I have removed 3 ACSD's...
If you live in a colder region, ditch the phh and associated piping. Run a length of hose from phh to the firewall. Set it up like a 1HZ/1hdt/1HD-FT diesel and install a convection heater.
Pull the glass up and ensure there is some sticky tape in the channel. The sticky stuff should keep the glass seated in the channel preventing it from bouncing.
I use used double sided sticky tape.
Ouch,
I save time by putting the unit on 4 good jack stands, and then methodically pull parts.
Start with going through all forward and reverse gears and no to little throttle. Use your bloody brakes to stop wheel spin....
If all 4 tires spin...
Open up the rear quarter panel, and down below the jack you will find wires and connectors. Carefully examine connectors corrosion highlighted by blue/green oxidation. The same type of crap you will find when looking at trailer wiring.
I have taken all of mine off.
No timing changes....
Blanking plate oil/fuel resistant "O" ring.
Get the best tools in case of tough bolts.
Bottom is easy if you remove the ft tire and fish an extension through the now obvious gap.
Good idea to...
Either fuel is leaking down overnight or you don't have good glow.
Check your primer in the morning, an airtight system will have almost immediate pressure, a leaky system will require some priming.
As for the glow system, you could try...
Once you simplify the fuel issue which is probably a vaccum leak as suggested life should get better.
I've seen people with multiple fuel filters stumped. Easy fix is to go back to and simplify your filters. You can also run a length of good hose...
The specs on my 1HD-FT are 362 foot pounds of torque, the hz is probably the same because it is the same part.
Also used the best loctite available.
My balancer originally came loose during the first 6 hours of an over 40 hour drive.
Managed to...
My 88 is the same way...I find it handy as s*** for all the above reasons. I love being able to take the key out, run inside for forgotton item, all the while not turning off the truck.
That's just me though...
Update: was able to remove the diaphragm from the pin and then take the two out separately. Reset the follower pin and re-assembled. 1 extra step I suppose but at least now I can service my pump. Thanks dudes
Funny enough,
Enough though i have a fj80 and a lx470, i elected my hj61 12ht high roof, to be my main long distance overland rig.
Picked it up in Vancouver and did 10k kms in 23 days, through Dempster Highway, artic ocean, all the way to Toronto
