    The World's Tightest Bolt

Having done this job twice. Once one the side of the road in a snowstorm between Revelstoke and Roger's Pass with the tools I had on board....got me home 4000km away. Pull the rad, batteries and whatever. You can lock in low up against a solid object, go to a big truck tire shop and get a huge...

80 series is not running correctly after washing

As stated spray the engine bay. All wires, plugs and dizzy. If interested try misting the engine bay on a dark night with engine running, you can normally spot random electrical sparking.

No heat=no coolant or thermo. Top up the rad

    1HDT Overheating

Check that the rad and overflow are in equilibrium. If either is low you are losing coolant. This may take a few days, but tighten all clamps, white spray paint will highlight coolant leaks. Your overflow should always have some coolant, if this is dry, again a leak.

What Did You Do To Your Diesel Today (WDYDTYDT)

Drove my 95 hdj80 from Sudbury to Whistler BC. Left at 10:15am Friday and entered Whistler in time for lunch Sunday. Grabbed a cold beer to celebrate with my son. I then had him start the inner axle seal job on his hdj81, and buttoned her up in time for him to go to work. Spent Monday at an...

    series parallel switch rebuild

Have you load test the fusible link. These will light up a test light, but not enough juice for the start circuit. Line runs from the PS battery and under the windshield washer. I assume that both batteries are fully charged and all connectors are tight? You'd be surprised how a loose battery...

HZJ73 runs rough on cold mornings

Yes we do. The longest living and toughest vehicle around. I've had the pleasure since the early 1980's.

HZJ73 runs rough on cold mornings

Ah! If great when warm, then glow plugs. Thinking that I read some additional post. Still a stiff primer pump is a good sign no matter what you do. We have many, many Toyota's in our underground mines, I always tested the primer as a force of habit just to confirm the chances of a decent start...

HZJ73 runs rough on cold mornings

Vaccum leak! Air is being sucked into the fuel line. Use a section of clear hose. Start from the IP to fuel filter and work your way towards the tank. Air bubbles are the clue. No air bubbles and you want a firm primer especially after an overnight. Primer should only take a couple of pumps to...

HZJ73 runs rough on cold mornings

I would start with the glow plugs system. Make sure that you have power to the busbar when the key is turned on, and as the system powers down. If yes to the busbar, then test the glow plugs. If one is bad change them all. Sensors: Toyota uses one coolant sensor for the gauge, and one for the...

    Interior heat from engine unbearable

You may want a tranny temp gauge, and drive accordingly. My 91 with A442 is in Whistler BC. Drives nice and cool in 4th gear all day, downshift and watch the heat rise quickly. According to my son even low range does the same sort of heat thing, fine in 4th, but heats up in other gears. He...

Looking for Diesel mechanic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

If it runs while priming, then suspect the fuel supply. Vaccum leaks are hard to find, sometimes you can hear the squeak of a vacuum leak if your surroundings are quiet. Change hoses and check clamps. Also check the EDIC, even disconnect the mechanism and run the unit manually just to ensure...
