@christreb and @DrRock , I don't have and CAD files, but have a work around that is both economical and accurate. I have the SWB LJ70, and I purchased the least expensive rear panel from Toyota (PANEL, ASSY, QUARTER) Part#62520-90K39-BO which is...
@krumby , did you remove your EGR system from your intake manifold? If you did or plan on removing it, that area will provide amble room to install the boost sensor.
@MushyPeez , You have to make your own face and drill/ cut the holes for the specific diameter of the gauges you buy. Both REDARC, SPA / RaceTech, are 52mm so buy the appropriate hole saw to cut the ABS or whatever material you decide to use for...
Thank you, yeah was more concerned about ruining a perfectly good OEM part for the sake of gauges.
Good idea to go ahead and purchase the part and convert that one! 😄
A couple examples of ones I've done. On the first one I removed the altimeter/thermometer unit completely and made an aluminum bracket to go in its place, totally reversible.
The second I retained the thermometer but removed the altimeter and...
@Reedys , you really don’t have to hack anything apart. Altimeter & Inclometer pull out & apart easy enough. These are the expensive items that you pack away as a curio for future generations. If you don’t want to do that, you can buy the OEM...
Nice work, that looks clean, I did consider placing my gauges in the same spot but wasn’t sure if I’d regret hacking away at the oem part haha
Perhaps in the future, we’ll see haha
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I’m partial to SPA from Merlin Motorsport out of England. SPA may have just rebranded to “RaceTech” though. Although, I’m a Yank, I prefer to read temps in Celsius and Boost in PSI. All boils down to...
@toy 4 , so you are saying, you drive your 2LT around at 4500rpm? Please confirm you have a 2L-T mated to a R151 transmission? I’m really curious about this setup. Please tell us more.
We would love to help @ Cruiser Outfitters. We stock the full range of Old Man Emu, Dobinsons and many 'while you're in there' items such as extended brake hoses, sway bars links, caster shims, etc.
My personal favorite 7x Series setups is OME...
Here's the transmission breather location, on the shifter just behind the rubber shifter boot.
Normally it is just the little breather cap there, I took mine out and replaced it with one of these:
I want to extend all breathers on my LJ70. Axles, engine and transfer case are easy, but there's no obvious breather on the transmission. Google tells me that there should be two of the same model as on the t-case, but there are none. Would I be...
Not much of an update but I put the car back together for the time being while I catch up on some other projects and wait for more metal to arrive so I can make a nice patch for the rear quarter/rear fender liner. Ordered some rattle can paint...
I think I’m making progress. Following that video I dove into metal shaping and welded the resulting piece to the car. It’s not a perfect match but it will hopefully do. My welding penetration is terrible but it will hopefully improve as I go...
I do also plan on putting an intercooler, wasn’t planning to do so this soon, but I figure it might actually be wise to upgrade turbo & add an intercooler now?
@Reedys , unless you plan on putting an intercooler on, the 2LT Head does not handle heat all that well / prone to cracking, I’d recommend sticking to the CT20.
Thank you very much for your replies, apologies for the delay in response too.
After lots of back and fourth I found out that my turbo was seized haha. Not sure if I just replace with the CT20 or use this as an excuse to upgrade the turbo to...
