I do also plan on putting an intercooler, wasn’t planning to do so this soon, but I figure it might actually be wise to upgrade turbo & add an intercooler now?
@Reedys , unless you plan on putting an intercooler on, the 2LT Head does not handle heat all that well / prone to cracking, I’d recommend sticking to the CT20.
Thank you very much for your replies, apologies for the delay in response too.
After lots of back and fourth I found out that my turbo was seized haha. Not sure if I just replace with the CT20 or use this as an excuse to upgrade the turbo to...
Just following up with my experience with Knox. I ordered a LHD kit for a 76, knowing I would need to cut down the length, at a minimum for my FZJ70.
The quality of the carpet was quite good to my eye, and the mold held up well in shipping. If I...
@Reedys , Turbo Light isn't a function of RPM, but Boost. I believe the light comes on at about 1.6psi of boost, which may correspond to 2000 RPM ish. There is a short Vacuum hose from the Intake Manifold to a sensor... change if you have a doubt.
Yeah, sounds pretty normal.
When the air intake temp sensor warms up (like warm day, or engine has been sitting parked hot for a bit heatsoaking), the ECU pulls a ton of power. Honestly not sure if it pulls injection timing or fuel; but...
in my experience if you do one, the other dies like right away. prolly my weird experience, but as stated, its easy to just do them both, be done with it.
Removing t-stat is NOT a good idea. It allows all the coolant to bypass the radiator and go right back into the motor.
To have such extreme problems, I suggest you definitely have a t-stat issue. Buy the newer 82C version.

Old panel out! New one looks good! Have to repair rust in floor pan before I can actually weld rocker in place since they weld together where there is missing metal. Also need to reweld a small tab that attaches firewall on lower corner...
This is probably well known by most but I learned taking this apart that the fender comes off before the apron. The apron slides over the front frame/body horn and can’t be removed without taking off the entire front sheet metal with the radiator...
If you already bought a new slave, I’d recommend putting it on. It takes about 10 minutes to install, and you can even do it yourself. You will be kicking yourself down the road if that salvaged unit craps the bed in the middle of nowhere.
@ae86andkp61 , For the rear carpet, I went to the local Boat Upholstry guy, and they had a lot of remnants in their shop, grey being a very popular option. I did a template of the cargo area with butcher paper, and a week later I had a nice...
I haven't seen a single aftermarket option that fits anywhere close to the oem ones . How bad is yours ? Post some pics here and maybe someone has one in better shape they might want to sell
@Flynn & @Guyute hopefully we can generate some more interest next May. Of course it doesn’t have to be in May, but it does usually have the best weather.
Sorry. I was hot on it. Took vacation days and all... then some ambulance doors popped up for sale on Vancouver Island. So used the free time to drive up and snag them.
I’ve been up here all month, but there didn’t seem to be too much interest. Maybe next year there may be more people interested. It’s a shame because the weather was absolutely beautiful all of May.
