SE Idaho 1979 FJ40
Nice mostly unmolested original 1979 FJ40 (2/79) with factory P/S, 888xx miles, U.S. spec, matching numbers (FJ40 300705 – both ID plates and frame, 2F 120522), $27,000. Thought I’d put this on IH8MUD first in hopes of finding a proper home. First post for me, although I’ve used the technical resources for years (FJ60 – 28 years, 2 FJ80s – 15 years). I bought this FJ40 about a year ago as my next project. Here’s the story as best I can piece it together: 3 owners before me. The previous owner (professional restoration shop) purchased it about 2 years before me – a good candidate that was stored awaiting repairs/restoration, but he decided to sell it to fund other projects. He told me that the cruiser had lived most of its life in...

Has original freeborn red with dealer yellow decals underneath the camo. Will crank up, needs carb rebuilt. Very complete 40 minus seats. This one would make a great restoration candidate considering how good the body is. Asking $8000 obo
Orlando, FL - 1979 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser
I'm selling my US spec 1979 FJ40 Land Cruiser. Motor and drive train are all original as far as I know and work like new. Transmission and transfer case were both just rebuilt and I had the head and valves done last year. HEI distributer, electric fuel pump, manual steering box new last year. Interior is rhino lined, seats and dash all in great condition. New Billstein shocks sitting on a 4” lift with almost new 33” BFG KO2 AT’s all around including spare. Purchased the factory soft top and bow system from down in South Florida about a year an a half ago, very high quality. Custom bumpers front and rear and WARN 8274 winch up front. It runs and drives perfect, custom exhaust with ceramic Manafre headers and Weber carb upgrade. Also...
Selling my 1971 FJ40 for no reserve on eBay. Starting the bidding off at .99 cents. Was a really nice car a few years ago and things went to s***. Sat at a shop in the 100+ degree Georgia heat and the paint started popping off. Wouldn't run after sitting either. Think the starter is bad. Hoping somebody will get it and have as much fun as I did while it was running. 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 | eBay
1974 FJ 40
I've decided to sell my FJ 40 after 18 years of ownership. It has driven from Prudhoe Bay, AK. to Key West, FL. It's been a fun ride. But, it's time to let someone else make some memories with her. Here's the details. 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser 36000 miles since engine rebuild and mechanical over haul. Many upgrades. Power Steering Disc brakes Locker diff in rear Limited slip diff in front 4" lift New 33' tires Mechanically sound, minimum rust in rear sil. $10,000 OBO.
Hi MUD - Longtime lurker but first time poster. My first car was a Sky Blue '78 FJ40 – not mine in the profile pic, but similar. I drove it daily for a couple of years, but I had to sell it as it couldn't make the 10 hour drive to college. That was 20+ years ago, and now that I'm approaching mid-life crisis age, I'm looking to buy one again. My budget maxes out in the mid-teens, which I know won't get me anything fancy, but as my mechanical skills are fairly elementary, I'm also not looking for something that needs tons of work. And I'd like to find a US model, no "fixed up" South or Central American imports. I'm in Atlanta, so ideally would find something within driving distance, but I'm open to travel for the right rig. Thanks all...

Need to sell my FJ40 - unfortunately. This 1972 model built in July. I bought it last year and have been in the process of getting all the bugs out of it. Here is the list of things that have been done: Brand New OME leaf suspension kit including shocks and steering stabilizer New tail lights and front blinkers Aussie locker installed last week in the rear axle (spider gears where worn) Oil change and plugs New interior with sandblasted seat frames / repaint (still need rear seats done) New rear motor mounts - (fronts are newer style) 8000 # warn winch with SOR winch mount Warn manual front hubs New clutch, resurfaced flywheel and flywheel bolts Converted back to Asian...
[SOLD] Hi Everyone, Unfortunately I've got to sell my FJ40. Last year I quickly moved to the US for a job and had to leave my FJ rebuild "as is" back in Ontario. We've now sold our house and I need to say bye to my truck. This is a difficult situation as I'm still in the states. I'm selling a 1976 FJ40 that I imported from the US about 5 years ago (and fully imported so I have an Ontario slip for it and everything). I got it from a member on this forum and I imported it from NC but it was in Arizona before that. I doubt its ever seen snow let alone salt. Here's the run down: Body/Frame: Its frame is in very good condition, no signs of damage or repairs, lots of factory paint still on it The body in ok condition (some rust behind...
