Saw this rig today on our way today to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
Claims a "frame off restoration".......rain gutters are almost filled flat with some type of putty, rear gate hinges are pulling away, wavy panels that sound very dense, missing hardtop bolts.......🤔
I have no issue with these problems, but I have an issue with them calling it a frame off resto.

Up for sale is a 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser fj40. It has the factory 2f engine along with 4 speed transmission. It has a mechanical locker in the rear and disc brake suspension all the way around. It has a reverse shackle on the front. Has Saginaw power streering. New aluminum radiator, new clutch and throw out bearing. Full roll cage. Clear title. It runs, drives and stops. I've it it since 2005 and it time for a change. I am the third owner , the second owner never drove it , it just sat in his yard. This is a El Paso, TX truck.
There is some minor rust in the usual places , most of it is surface. Truck runs great and I just don't have the time to drive it as much as I would like to.

I'm selling my 1970 Fj-40! It has been built right. It has a strong running 350 Chevy motor with the original 3 speed. Has power streering and tilt. Has the full hard top and doors along with a soft too and soft half doors and the bikini top. Runs strong and mechanically sound and doesn't leak. The exterior has been rhnolined along with the top and doors and holding up great. The rig isn't perfect and has some rust but I do have new back end panels and many extra parts that goes with it....make me an offer!

I have been searching for a good priced FJ40 (for what it is) and not having a lot of luck. It seems as if everyone values theirs a little bit more than I do. So I figured I would try posting a want ad to publish my interest. Open to any year after 74, any mods, just as long as the price is right. Looking mainly for something to drive in the summer and hit trails occasionally. Don't mind it needing some work, but would like it to run and not be a rust bucket. Looking to spend 10k. Pretty much all stock aside from Weber carb as far as I can see. No title currently, will work with serious buyer to obtain title.
I have not even attempted to start this truck. Has not run for 11-12 years that I am aware of. Typical, "my brother parked it there and it sat for 7-8 years when I bought it. No clue.
There is some body rust noticeable, like most rust I am sure it has friends. Needs DS pan under seat. One tear in the DS tub just in front of the rear tire at the bottom. Bondo on PS door with rust under it. Bondo on front fender. Some bubbles in the paint here and there.
It's a fair pretty much untouched FJ40 for $5K

Located on the island of Hawaii, it starts and runs, plates are in storage, working on it for the last few years, survived the insane lava that happened last year. Needs new wiring, lots of new parts. Ill edit this post with them later.
