Pending any (seasonal) closures, Claudia and I are mulling over a return trip to White Pocket on Thanksgiving weekend. It would be a 'tripod-trip', i.e. mostly camera play.

A little early to plan T-Giving, idn't it?

Where's white pocket?

North of the Colorado on the Paria Plateau, west of Page/Marble Canyon.

Yes, it's early. But if the closure of FR42 after the fire over there is any indication, our local digs towards the north will be curtailed for quite a while; east - who knows what the access around Superior will be. And it's a bit of a distance to Marble Canyon, so a regular weekend is probably a bit short.

Glen was talking about The Maze in the fall. I don't think that'll work for us.

Ahh - that 'splains it then...

I love that area. I was actually also thinking of going up to Paria for Turkey Day. I will be scouting the area for my Boy Scout troops New Years trip.

Looks like a White Pocket trip isn't going to happen at T-day weekend. I need to attend to a few things on my truck first - like getting that darn cut tire warrantied, or my 2nd spare mounted on a rim.

So my plans (flimsy as they are at the moment...) are a day on Log Corral (if it's open...), and a day in FJ, probably doing something other than Box/Elvis/Woodpecker/Martinez/Coke Ovens/Telegraph/Ajax - but not sure yet what. Or instead go to TM for a day.

Anyways: none of this will be the family/wife/kid/dog-friendly-we'll-know-exactly-where-we'll-be-and-when-and-GPS-coordinates/waypoints-and-bug-out-opportunities-will-be-available-3-weeks-in-advance-and-we'll-know-exactly-when-we'll-be-back kinda thing. All I can say is that it's not going to be suitable for stock trucks, two lockers are better than one, and a CB radio will suffice re trail communications.

In fact, I wouldn't even pretend this to be a CSC club run.
I'm just posting here where I want to go because a few of my friends hang out here, and I'd like them to know about it, and it's too cumbersome to PM everybody.

I am in! :bounce: :bounce2:

Duffy (my mother) is coming to town for T-Giving wheeling, so...

So... you have plenty of seats in the 80. Bring her along :hillbilly:

That's one of the reasons she comes - she has been wheeling with me since about 1990. She has run Pyatte up and over, all around FJ, Table Mesa/New River, Charleau Gap, Four Peaks/Rolls area, Anza Borrego/Ocotillo Wells, Joshua Tree (in the front and out the back way), etc.

Sounds like fun, I'm in for Friday and Saturday.

I am in for all 3 days, looking forward to getting out for days in a row!

I am still frantically trying to make a deadline on Monday :bang:

Log Corral is open. Friday or Saturday.
FR160 has come up; Friday or Saturday, pending further input.
Haven't gotten around the FJ or TM issue yet.

NOW YOU TELL ME...(I feel like Spike) I needed more advance notice...

Then start planning earlier, we just started talking about it.

Log Corral is a slow moving trail so the more vehicles the longer it will take. Which ever day the lowest vehicle count is would be ideal for LC. Maybe Friday Log Corral, Saturday FR160 (I have the route in GPS from last year) and maybe Hells... on Sunday?
