Hi all,

Has anyone experienced the front brake caliper bolts loosening?

My LHS front brake caliper came off completely a few months back, thankfully I was close to home. I replaced the bolts with new genuine ones.

Six months later the RHS front end developed a "cluck" which after several inspections I found was caused by loose caliper bolts!!

Again, is this somethng that has happed to others and what could cause this? Seems odd that it has happened twice now.

Any input appreciated.

I don't have any firsthand experience with this, but I have read of that happening to others in a thread here. Kind of scary, but you're not the only one that this has happened to.

Ive had it hapen on a 70 series ute That long ago I cant remember which wheel it haped on It would only make a noise in reverse

Happened to my front drivers side a few months ago, fell out completely. Luckily it was the top one so when braking it pulled into the rotor, not the rim. Been checking them regularly now. I use antiseize on all my bolts (rustbelt) but might use high temp locktite on those if i find another one loose. FYI the same bolt is used on my 84 fj60;)

Just curious. Did you torque the bolt to the correct spec?

I had the same problem. I simply replaced the bolts and used high temp Loctite. No issues since.

Eggzacly, have never had one that was properly tensioned, come loose or fail.

When I bought my cruiser most of the rear caliper bolts were missing. Thankfully nothing was damaged and no one got hurt, I wondered what that clanging noise was for weeks:censor:
