If you're not concerned about departure angle you could lower it. I think it looks okay where it is though.

Maybe a little easier on the back if it was lower.

Those are 35's right?

Nice I like how low yours is ... Your 33's right

Ya 35's I could lower it 5 or 6 in inches before it mess with the departure angle... I just hate how much it blocks my view

I am (33's). Ex was running 35's and a Alcan (?) lift on his. I didn't have any departure issues with my spare...although I did drag the bottom of my bumper on this little step....

Goodluck on you bumper build. It's a great looking bumper and it's nice to see the other ideas out there.

You can never be too high lol (Unless you try to drive it into the garage w/o putting the tire down like I did today....).

Lots of pics in my "New addition 85 FJ60" thread. The po had it painted on in that whachamacallit shade of white that starts with a C....

Hey Klinetime, don't want to hijack, in 5 min you will have pm on a seperate matter.

Thanks, John

Heres wat I came up with... Same side as ga89hoss.

Nice I like the height ... I can't see s*** outs mine right now

Thanks...

Getting the right height was the hardest part of the build for me.
But it was worth being able to look out the rear window.

Darwink1: can I see some more pics of your bumper somewhere? While I think your tire is a TAD bit too high ;) I like the super great departure angle that your bumper allows...

Yeah, lots of pics in my build thread mentioned previously. The tire swings down to the ground so the height isnt an issue, that and Ive hit it already so if it was any lower It would have been beat. It is stout as hell to take that hit from the garage door header and also a tree on the last run I went on.

The swing out uses a combination of 4x4 labs spindle and a heavy duty barrel hinge at the upper mount. The other side is secured with 2 pins and 2 sets of shackle bushings/sleeves (DIY4x4 builders kits). The whole rear gate assembly acts to brace the 1/4 hoops.
