I know this has been beat to death . My stock brass 4 core with a shroud was keepin my tbi 350 aroung 190 to 210 wth a shroud and mechanical fan . Well it sprung a leak. What radiator and where for less then $200.

Nothing worth while! Seriously. I think that someone in the Parts section was selling a radiator in relatively good shape might wanna look there. Trust me though that there isn't a worthwhile radiator available for less than 200 I had two types in my 4Runner, each with lifetime warranty. That simply means that if yer willing to replace the thing on your own they'll let you. I replaced that radiator three times IIRC. Anyways...

Around here [Northern Ct] I can find Radiator repair shops that can do a great recore and I have had no problems when I have done that?

then don't spend $500

if your content with your current set-up but your radiator is leaking, look into a local recore

You can buy one from radiatorbarn.com direct fit for under 200 bucks. A buddy of mine just got a Chinese all aluminum one for 90 bucks somewhere on line. I'd go with radiator barn and be done with it. Mine was at my door the next day and was very well made, 4 cores. I give them 4 out of 5 stars for product quality and customer service

No problems with it, too bad my head is cracked and it didn't fully fix the overheating problem I had to begin with.

Compare how many rows of cooling fins per inch there are on that radiator vs the original. :bang:

I'd try to find a good original brass one and have it rodded out.

Pick one that fits, get the largest one that make work. I looked for ones at least 19" tall. depending on position 27" to 32" wide should fit depending on placement and headlight connectors. I have been very happy with my AFCO w 22.5"X19" core 27" to the edge of the tanks

AFCO: Universal / Racing

Sounds too good to be true. And you know what they say about that. There has got to be some major trade-off on this rad. A compairable from BeCool, Ron Davis, AA, MAF are all well over $500. See what happens when people will work for $0.25/week?

If the stock size in brass is working for you, why not stick with it?

I had my J**p radiator recored for less than $150. That was 10 years ago- but still. Can't be anywhere near $500 now.

GO to an old-fashioned radiator shop. Inside will be a bunch of really dirty guys, vats of boiling acid, and flames. It's kind of like Mordor. They may be able to just braze the hole for $25, rod it out and resolder the top tank for $100, or recore it for $200. Those are the rough prices around here.

I have heard good things about the RadiatorBarn ones. Good quality for around $200.

If you dont mind a little fitting and fabricating the aluminum radiators that summit sells are reasonably priced. You can find a universal fit that should be close.

Ive purchased a couple of rads for different applications from Radiator Barn, 1 was for my FJ40 and I have no complaints. It's dead on a stk unit w/next day service. Keeps my carb'd 350 cool just like the stk 1.

Uhhh... This is the 40 tech section. Where are you??

I accidentally put it in the 80 section. After a few beers. A little while later I checked for replies and couldnt find it. So I did a search. Well I supposed a moderator moved it for me. Thanks whom ever you are.

We must have had the same local radiator shop, LMAO, this is exactly my picture:beer:

I have the same problem with 2 40s I have, one w/350 other a 400. I haven't really messed with them in a while but when I get around to it I'm going to get a stock car radiator. We tear up radiators all the time in race cars, they come in lots of sizes...might be worth checking into. Search the net on stock car parts or dirt track car parts

It's my understanding that the aluminum radiators cannot be re-cored. Is this true?

NOt sure, usually when we replace one, its wrapped around a fan blade or still on the track. Aren't most radiators in new cars aluminum? I'm surprised no one has tried one yet, we turn our motors 7-8k at 250F. It should easily keep a regular motor cool
