"I have a code 47, "Open Circuit in Central Differencial Lock", but a search finds nothing on further diagnosis or how to repair. Both VSC lights are on.

Anyone had experience of this?

No first hand experience on that one, but first move would be to clean and re-seat all the electrical connections at the T-case.

Does Code 47 "Open CDL Circuit" Mean Stuck On?

I have a code 47 "CDL open circuit" indicated by the VSC TRACK and VSC OFF lights being on with a 4-7 flash code.

Does this just mean my CDL is stuck and I need drive back and forth to unstick it, or does it indicate a wireing problem? The CDL on light is NOT on, and the actuator does click.

Do you have the FSM? It gives a series of things to check in order; the first ones you may have checked already. The code is actually for an open or shorted circuit and could even be caused by a burnt out indicator bulb.

Same post as before, did you clean and check the connections? Your going to have to get under there at some point to start eliminating things.

The computer codes only suggest which systems need attention they will never give you the exact answer. The computer can not tell if the gears are stuck, the sensor is bad, a wire is shorted, a connector disconnected, it can only indicate that the signal received is not as expected for the outputs, switch positions, or operating conditions.

After watching this board for a few years now I don't recall seeing your exact problem posted so that may be why you haven't gotten a ton of replies. Good luck with it.

Done everything that has been suggested. The actuator "clicks" but locker (CDL) does NOT engage. Any way to mechanically force it? I've done plenty of back and forth driving on rough ground in all low gears but no way it is engaging. The cluster light is burnt out (does not light on ignition test) does this give a clue, or related to the problem? I need get wheelin'!!!!!

What would dealer do? I have FSM but see no tests to perform.

I didn't read all of the above, however with regards to the last post, the actuator pushes a spring which then engages the dogs. This is why you have a lag from button push to light on the dash. So there's really nothing to 'force' it with externally.

If you lock it and hear the clunk and make a sharp corner can you feel it bind?

For the archives....

I had a code 47 and it went away when I changed the dash bulb for the center differential lock indicator. Mine was bad.

Start with the easy stuff!

I do, I did. My bulbs all OK. Was a faulty back-up sensor.

Will you please elaborate not he back-up sensor fix? I don' t know what that is. I am still having issues with my LC. Now ABS code 68 - Transfer L4 position signal transmission failure

Thanks!

Tex993. I can't give you details because This was beyond me and I finally put truck in the shop. My problem however was related to a badly wired trailer where the trailer battery charge fed back into truck and blew stuff. If your gears work and truck runs fine like mine did, it sounds like you have a gear position sensor problem. Check and clean and reseat all the electrical connection to the gearbox and transfer case.
