How does everyone feel about these products. Do the one step products even work? Zero Rust says that they are mil. spec for humvee undercoating. That sounds promising but Id appreciate the input. Everyone raves about por 15 but it seems expensive and a lot of hassle.

I had the underside of my 60 sand blasted then applied the zero rust and had it undercoated at Zebart. The ZR went on really nice and even. I applied two coats on the entire underside, running gear and wheel wells. It covered well with one coat but two is always better. It was a messy deal but I think it went very well. It is a '85 Minnesota truck with no body rust and just a bit of rust on the frame. It was a one owner and used very little in the winter. 80,000 miles. I am trying to get it to run right with help from this pool of knowledge.

I just used Rust Bullet on my front axle, testing out it's durability. Intially, impressed. Beat the crap outta my front axle this weekend, taking off the black topcoat, but the grey Bullet is still there. Stinky stuff, use in a ventilated garage. 2 step process, I did the automotive quart with the solids in it, goes a LONG way.

would any shops sell it locally??? or do i have to send away for the stuff because either one seems fine to me...but shipping it would prob. be a bit much...because i need about a gallon...

Zero Rust is an easy application and covers well. Used it extensively on my rear cross members and frame last summer and was very pleased with the ease of use. Appears to have held up well with our wet Oregon winter too. So far so good :)

I use it now as my go-to product for quick touch ups on the undercarraige or on fresh scrapes and wear areas.

Put Zero rust on my rig and watch rust come back real quick.

Might try Zero Rust on my rig next, gotta test the product prior to installing it on customers rigs.

CUT THE CRAP OUTA THERE!

I've never used Zero Rust or Rust Bullit, but I am definately sold on Por-15. I've coated me and dad's '66 GTO chassis with it and I've coated random cruiser parts with it. Like I said, I don't know the cost-benefit of zero r. or rust bullit, but one quart of Por-15 coated the whole chassis of the goat and it is not even starting to come off. As for my cruiser, I painted the wheel wells and other random parts, I event got lazy and didn't clean all of the oil and other crap off of some parts before coating it - no problem. You don't even have to get the rust off before you use it, just get the flaky stuff off (hopefully you don't have the flaky stuff on yours like I had). You don't have to top coat parts that are not in direct contact with the sun also, saving $.

Just ordered a quart of Rust Bullit. I've had rust break through Zero Rust. Haven't tried POR-15 yet. Too toxic. I will report on the Rust Bullit.

I used POR 15 on the stuff not crappy enough to cut out. Then I primered, or hurculined over it.

Ive used both Zero Rust and POR15. They both have thier uses. I like the finish and ease of use of Zero-Rust but its probably not as long lasting as POR15. POR15 can be a real bear to work with though, and unless you thin and spray it, it can leave a brushed on look behind once it dries.

For most applications I think I would lean towards a couple coats of Zero over POR15. I have never used the other product you ask about. Good luck.

What exactly are you painting and what condition is it currently in? I do not like por15. And looked at zero rust but went with SEM rust shield when I did my 60. I had a whole post on it a while back. It came out awesome. And it sprays really nice. And has held up well. oil, gas, power steering and brake fluid don't seem to faze it.

What ever you choose the prep work is the most important part of the whole process..

I used both, and POR15 on various parts of my 60 resto about 4 years ago. All have held up very well. All those paints are top-quality and any of them will work just fine if you PREP PREP PREP according to directions.

FWIW, I also used many cans of Kryolon/duplicolor rust tough on small parts and I really can't tell the difference. The other paints are moisture-cured urethanes, so in theory, they should be tougher.

The only place where the Rust Bullet flaked was on the front fender under-wells, that I did not prep as well as I should have. So I heavily pressured washed the underwells, blew off any loose paint, and sprayed with Underbody rubberized coating, and that's held up amazingly well.
