Where is the oil pressure sender on the 2H?

pretty close to your oil filter .. search my user I've been post few pics where is located ..

Can anyone tell me were to get the 5mm longer oil relief valve
please help
toyota wants $700 + tax for the whole oil filter assembly
for purchasing a relief valve (specially for 2H's) , I rang Peter from To-Jo 4WD in Toowoomba QLD Australia Ph. (07)46334488. was a real gentleman & was too happy too help. He is posting me an oversize (30mm long x 15.mm) relief valve but said it also requires the spring to be cut back about 5mm. the price is what you pay elsewhere, but what i liked was that it measured up at a better diametre (and length) to what i have already been supplied from elsewhere. he specializes in Toyota service and parts and was very helpful with ideas.

Any luck Cam?

I see the excessive oil pressure in the other thread I mentioned (see post # 39) was caused by the pressure relief valve being in backwards.

well my 2H high oil pressure is solved. the new correct size (15mm x30mm) oversize valve has confirmed my theory on oil bypassing the 14.5mm dia valve and filling the rear/spring side before it can compress.
i was nearly ready to drill and tap a hole in the oil pressure plug/bolt itself and then another into a safe location on the motor with connecting tubing & fittings to relieve the back pressure of oil. glad i found the right valve size. just with this one i bought its best to cut the spring back 5mm in overall length (about 1.5 coils) at least then take off any sharpness on the spring cut and put this modified end within the piston/valve as it will sit more sqaure-on when sliding in the bore. (to see what i mean by this; in your hand before fitting if you try turning both ways with the modified spring sitting in the bolt and at the other end in the piston/valve you will see which way seems to not cause a sideways deflection as the spring is no longer square/flush on the newly cut end)
hope i have helped some folk!

Glad you solved it Cam.

I have been chasing low oil pressure problem on start up in my 2H. Fitted the upgraded relief valve but after two weeks it seems like the oil drains back from the oil pump and takes 30 seconds to register pressure on the gauge. If you start it every day it registers pressure with in 4 seconds?
Could l have a bad gasket on the pick up tube or pick up screen partially blocked? Will be checking the other relief valve as mentioned in this thread, then pulling the sump off and maybe check the big end clearances while I’m there. Oil pressure is all with in factory specs while running so not sure what’s going on.

@frankenyota I hate to say it.. but 30 secs not unusual for a high klm 2H and short of replacing the oil pump, and probably the housing, there's likely to be no easy fix.

I have heard that parking with the vehicle facing downhill can help if it sits for long periods like you've described but havent had solid information that it definitely works. Is yours parked facing up hill by any chance?

Usually parked on level ground in the shed, it use to cut out 2-3 times on the edic before it ran. Wire is currently disconnected. Was hoping it might be something allowing the oil to drain back. 260k on the clock and came off a farm so no idea of its previous life, HJ47. Runs well when once it’s started

If the oil pump was worn wouldn’t it show lower than recommended oil pressure when hot?

I think the pumps have a lot of pressure to give (more than is required by a lot) and the relief valve in the timing cover is activating a lot.. the worn pump can still deliver enough pressure but is prone to losing prime and struggles to prime quickly. That's my theory at least.

Ok l see what your saying, I’ll check the other relief valves and if it doesn’t fix it l may have to live with it until it fails. I thought it would still hold its prime but it makes sense to what l’m experiencing. I will be fitting a 15BFT when if fails😉 Was going to turbo this 2h but might not be a good idea.
