I know many different allegiences (sp?) will provide different answers to this question but....What vendor should I use for new Ring and Pinion set (Fine Spline 4:11's) and pinion bearing/seal set. I assume all aftermarket will end up being Yukon gears.

All input would be appreciated on who to give the biz to...

I would try either Marlin or Cruiseroutfitters.

I bought my 4.11's from Randy's R&P about 4 years ago. They are very knowledgeable on the phone and had the bearing and install kits.

Have you thought about 4.56's? I am running the smallest 35's I could find which are just over 34's and on the road a little higher than 4.11 would be ideal. Just depends on where you want the best performace, on the road or in low gear on the trails.

I'm gonna go....

I thought about 4:56's but then I'd have to set up the front diff too.
and lose top speed in the process.

I'm gonna put Fine spline 4:11's in the rear to match the front ratio then put in a Marlin Toybox in so I can just double down and creep when needed so I don't lose anymore of my already anemic top-speed of 73 MPH in 2H

I ended up ordering my seal/bearing kit and R&P from Marlin for $403.11

Revision

Actually, now the gameplan is to replace the gearset in the transfercase to give me a slight overdrive (7or8%) in hi-range and a 55% reduction in 4 low. That way I'm crawlin better without bracing a toybox and keeping driveshaft lengths the same. Still gonna put a wrap bar on though. Something like a JKCustoms

I love ....

Welcome to the Marks gearset team .. great upgrade you gotta love it !

I love the idea of it...nice middle of the road solution.
BTW, Tapage, been following the stuff you've been doing to your rig
Love it!!! Saw that crazy snatchblock winch out situation you had going

Thanks dude ..

Tencha is a lovely Cruiser that I saw growup since 1997 ... and still have things to do .. :D

About the gearset ... I just yo with the underdrive coz when I buy it I was underpowered .. now with turbo, I only have one way to go .. bigger tires :grinpimp:

It would actually be the oposite. Yukon does not make LC gears. The problem with the Yukon as well as some others is that you wont always get the same gears everytime. We sell and have regeared more cruisers than most anyone out there and I have had noise issues with the yukon's even on my own vehicle. We have had best luck with precisions (other than our own), and when possible we purchase LC gears in large quantity from ACTUAL gear MANUFACTURER so that we can ensure a quality product. This also allows us to have all ratios in stock regularly.

Thanks,

I did check out your site but ended up going with Marlin for a set of Yukons (9.5-4:11's-Fine Spline) I met him at CM08 and decided he was a nice guy. Sorry. Thanks for the data though.

Good to see you here. I just bookmarked your website which is nice. You have any heavy duty air lines for a rear ARB locker that are longer than 4' which would work on a 60? Also what is your name so I can ask for you if I call in the future? Thanks.

But my question is .. who and where are made the Presision Gears .?

I got two sets of Yukon 4.56 gears through Cruiser Outfitters for a great deal, never had a single issue. My nieghbor, a shop owner and muscle car freak, advised me to stay away from Motive Gear and Genuine as he has had nothing but problems with them. Another savy guy at the local Six States Distributors said the same thing. I think the Yukons will be fine. I was running them with 35" tires and a healthy Chevy 350 under the hood, no issues.

Think that will be my ultimate solution too trapper,, posted a thread about my other idea a Orion low and h55 but the different splines would apparently require an adapter then all the other mods would follow. Seems the Marks gears and the h55 IS THE EASIEST WAY FOR THE bLACK AND tANS TO CRAWL.

Spooky

I literally thought of that 2 hours ago before checking this thread...An H55F anf that transfercase gear set....and a 350V8 but I digress. Man I bet that would crawl nice, but I have a pre-85 transfercase so to do the H55F I would have some more mods and driveshafts to do. bummer. I wonder if I could put an H55F and post 85 xfercase in (bolt in) and keep the same driveshafts???...

Anywho, just dropped of a third member, Yukon R&P set, Yukon 3rd rebuild kit and fine spline pinion flange (that matches up to my hand me down driveshaft flange from an FJ55 i think ((huge yoke))) to my mechanic this morning. He'll mesh the R&P, replace the carrier races/bearings, pinion race/bearing, crush sleeve and pinion nut, pinion flange and seal it all up. Then me and Steve get the fun job of putting it all in with the Aussie and resetting the rear brakes.

Getting there!

If both shares the 38mm idler shaft yes ..
