This might be a tiny bit premature but I'm going to be in the market again very soon. In the next few weeks I'd imagine. Just waiting on insurance...
Quick back story. I bought a beautiful Atlantis Blue LC back in July and put a ton of work and money into it to tastefully upgrade her and bring all of the maintenance up to date. Unfortunately, a dump truck behind me had a different plan for my 100 this week.
What I'm looking for:
-2000+ LC. Will consider 'the right' '99 if it's locked in the rear. Will consider an LX but would rather not mess with AHC removal. Weary of a 2 pinion diff in the earlier trucks.
- Mostly stock. I have a ton of new parts from my truck to swap over, not looking to pay for existing upgrades unless they're better than what I have
- Decent paint that can be buffed out if needed. Would lean away from black for maintenance reasons, will not consider gold or tan because ugly, really love the grays, Atlantis Blue, reds, and cool looking green colors, will be fine with silver or white.
-CLEAN undercarriage. I intend to keep the truck for a very long time (like my LC). Pictures of the undercarriage will be high priority. If you've had it treated, I'd love to see pictures from prior to the treatment.
-Under 250k miles if possible. Both of my 100s have had 250k on them and were fine but wouldn't mind lower miles.
- Up to date maintenance. I'm mainly looking for big things like the TB/WP service, CV axles or steering rack, etc. I don't mind if your sway bar links are toast or things like that.
I'm not worried if the seats are ripped or door panel trim is broken as I have a beautiful interior to swap. Don't care about the stereo being blown. Don't care if the wheels are curbed or tires are due for replacement. Don't care if running boards are bent. Don't care if antennae is broken. Basically just need a solid chassis with good maintenance history and no rust. I have the rest. It just needs to be safe for a drive back home.
I'm in Atlanta but don't mind traveling for the right truck. Would prefer not to move further north than the Mason-Dixon line or further west than Texas. Totally happy with the south eastern region, gulf coast region, tornado alley... Basically outside of the rust belt and not 3000 miles away (unless there's a killer deal in California...)
Budget will be under $10K and ideally between $7-9K if factoring for travel. Will look past some deferred maintenance if reflected in the price.
My claim was opened yesterday and I expect it should be a week or two before it pays out. This gives me some time to locate a few good trucks and make arrangements to travel for them.
