ARCHIVE Your FJ45 LPB bed parts are in here!!

As I wind down my production run of LPB beds I have a couple of customers that I have agreed to build tailgates for. I wanted to post here to let everyone know I will be making several extra gates that will be ready in a few weeks. So if you have been wanting one for some time but didn't want the hassle of buying overseas let me know. They will be full on original replicas with the raised lettering. Let me know if you need the three or four hinge style too. They'll be $500.00 Canadian funds. Each. Plus shipping. I haven't figured out shipping yet.

This notice is only for TAILGATES

I have not made any bed parts in almost a year so please understand that all bed parts I currently have in the garage are spoken for.

Here is a snapshot of my model

Kevin,

I hope you realize that you could make a TON of money if you did this full time. You're way too talented for this to be a hobby.

For sure there is potential. My problem is I already do this full time for someone else and make a decent income. That means 40+ hours a week of my time is spoken for. What I am trying to do is make myself a customer of my employer and let the shop do the work for me. That way I can oversee the production but still go home to the family or go wheeling on the weekend. So far I do 100% of the work myself.

Trouble is that the hourly rates I then have to pay will add to the cost to the end user. And, I'll just say it, I will have to take a smaller cut. And thats ok as long as I get my time back.

This should be a win, win, win. My employer gets more work for the shop. I get a cut on the way by. And the community gets access to discontinued parts.

If I can keep things efficient by doing batches of parts rather than one-offs or by preselling before production I can keep the cost at a level that the average cruiserhead can manage. But then I have to front the full cost of, say, a dozen rear sills. It might take me six months to sell them all but I have to put out like $1800 up front to buy them.

All of this is info you already know so I know you can relate.

Kevin, the bed and tailgates have to be seen in person to get a full appreciation for, they are unbelievable.

Please let me know if you have any BJ engine mounts and/or FJ45 rear crossmembers available from previous. They would be icing on the cake!

Thanks again for all your work,

Sean

kewin: I am marco from Italy, I have sent you a PM, did you received it? I need a 4 hinge taigate and the rack, the problem will be the shipping, please tell me if can arrange the whole thing.

CAD file

Kevin,

Would you happen to sell drawings or copy of file for producing the headache rack? I am fully aware you are currently not producing them. Thanks.

Well, as a matter of fact, I do have to make a couple racks in the next few weeks. I have a full bed from the original batch that is almost assembled and that fella ordered a rack as well. I could make you a rack as well.

Headache rack

Make it. Awesome!

Pm me for payment.

PM sent.

I will be making a few rack kits in the next three weeks. I will make a couple extra while I'm at it so if anyone else wants one let me know. There won't be too many and I don't know when I might get more made so keep that in mind.

I have to increase the price a bit to $250.00 Canadian plus shipping due to increased costs. See post 87 for more info.

Thanks for everyone's interest, past and present.

No plans at the moment but I can see myself making some at some point through this winter.

Yes, they are $45 Canadian for two plus shipping

Sweet!

I will take two. I saw you were going to T-Bar in Fort Mac, you can give them to one of the Edmonton members there, maybe Potlatch. Not sure if you are stopping in Edmonton at all but if you are then we could possibly meet somewhere.

I can PayPal you the money if you PM your address. Or pay you in person if we meet.

Thanks!

Done 47

$500 Canadian plus shipping 'bout $75

Here is the second to last bed from the last batch I made. Took it to the local blasting yard yesterday morning and then shot it in primer as per the buyer's request. One more to make and then I can make mine.

Still no plans to build any more beds. Looks like I will be making tailgates some time this winter but I've got a pile of work to do first.
