Hey Kevin, I'm pretty sure I just bought a complete shortbed from a 45 series truck. I'd be more than willing to donate it to the 'Mud cause and get it to you somehow if your ready to tackle another project.

Let me know if your interested and we can work something out.

I do recall you looking for those a while ago. I still don't have a sample in my hand but I know of three trucks within 20mins of me that have them.

This may be a reduntant question but..... would you like me to make some for you? :hhmm:

Kevin

Yes, please :)! I'd like a pair. And, I will be buying some other bits for my LWB bed at that time (tailgate anchor brackets and hopefully a partial section of bed floor and maybe a wheel well if available)

Let me know, and I will also check back with you soon!

Thanks!

I'll contact the owners I know and see if I can arrange to get some good measurements.

What about a weld together headache rack? You can certainly make the straight runs easy enough. The rounded corners could be welded together from 3 pieces. Sell it as a U-weld it kit! Thoughts? :)

yes, I have thought of that before but haven't had a rack long enough to think it through. I have arranged to borrow the rack off of 45kevin's unit - he even took the time to cut off the siezed bolts to get it off. I'll pick it up in the next couple days - gotta use the :princess:'s Rav4 cuz I don't think it'll fit in the Corolla.

I now have an original rack in hand. I believe this is off a 78. Anyone know if there is any difference compared to a 67 ish - I don't think there is judging by my research involving the beds. After a quick look I do believe I can make the whole thing. I could make up a "you weld it" kit of these racks without any trouble. Or I can supply them ready to bolt on. I'll have to think about the price a bit though. Mine will most likely have the large radius bends of the top corners welded and finish ground like my other stuff.

This bracket is bolted and stitch welded on to the rack - were they all welded on? Kinda redundant to weld and bolt. Maybe a PO adaptation?

Cool! Thanks for spending the time to make it happen!

No, there is no difference in headache rack or the mounting brackets. And no, they were not welded. But, I have seen a few of them welded for whatever reason.

If you end up making the whole rack, put me in for one for sure, but maybe two. But, I'd prefer a non-'you weld it' kit, if that's doable. Or at least, I wouldn't want to weld up a corner piece into the two straight sides. But, I would if I had too!

Oh, and the early 45's had two weird tabs on the top of the rack that I don't see in the 78 model pictured.

Cool!!
Put me in line for one too!
I am willing to do the "weld together" kit. Easier to ship as well.
Curious on the price and shipping. Zip 94062 :)

I'll have numbers for you guys by the new year
