I just installed Akebono ceramics in the rear. So far, I like them.
I replaced the fronts with OE Toyota pads a month prior, they're a big upgrade from whatever yhe previous owner installed 40k miles ago.

I will never put anything on my truck but EBC greens after experiencing them. They're expensive but they're better than anything else on the market. The Akebono's can't hold a candle to them in terms of stopping power and pedal feel. For rotors cheap Centric premium coated rotors

Advics and Akebono are Toyota's OEM makers from what I've read.

That would make sense because the fronts gave the same improvement when i installed them. It's actually the first pair of OEM pads I've ever purchased in 20 years of driving and I'm very happy with them.

My LS460 kept having warped rotors in front after 10k miles even with new rotors and new Lexus oem brake pads which were not ceramic. Lexus oem pads were abrasive and dusty. Ate my rotors fast.

i switched the rotors to new bendix rotors and new Akebono pads. Very little dust so I didn’t have to clean my chrome wheels as often and my rotors/pads are lasting over 20k miles so far.

so, i went new akebono pads on my gx470 all around with ebc premium rotors. 27k+ miles later and they are still good.

I have been running these in the front for awhile with no complaints so tonight replaced the rears. Powerstop z36

I'm ordering the PowerStop Z36's as well this week - any final thoughts since you've had them for a while now and before I spend some money?

BTW - got a thread somewhere about that TDI/LWB Samurai in your signature? THAT sounds like a fun read!

Cheers!

I am looking at PowerStop brakes. Upsized zinc rotors & larger calipers. For no other reason than I saw them used on a Motor Trend tv build.

i went with 2015 gx 460 front calipers on my gx 470

purchased from rock auto

raybestos front gx 460 calipers
oem 460 rotors
akebono front pads

raybestos gx 470 rear calipers
bosch 470 rotors
akebono rear pads
stoptech stainless lines at each corner
metaltech extended brake lines between the frame and rear axle
motul 600 brake fluid

brakes feel great and braking performance has greatly improved
pedal feels good
