whoa! that's one of the best I've seen on ebay in a long while.

Stop teasing me. My palms are getting sweaty--heart is beating faster . . .

it looks pretty good to me. you'll need to carfax it and check on its lineage.

When I bought off of EBay a few of my tricks were:

- Running a carfax, keeping in mind this does NOT reveal it all!
- Phone the dealership you figure has serviced the vehicle last, and speck to the service manager after giving him the VIN.
- Phone the current owner.
- Phone the bank if there is a lean on the title.
- Phone previous owners ..

Generally come at the vehicle from every conceiveable angle.

And USE an ESCROW service. I did not, and man things could have gone down worse then they did .. if thats at all possible. Hell, I just (kinda) fired away a cashiers cheque for $21000 USD. *shaking head*.

Ouch! Thanks for slowing me down. There is a lien on the vehicle according to Carfax. I've never purchased a vehicle that wasn't owned free and clear.

Well that is until mine hits ebay. I need a lighter color, dark colors are soo hard to keep clean.....yeah I'm a :princess: when it comes to keeping my junk clean.

Very nice! You buy the nice, light-colored 80 on Ebay, and I'll come take your dirty truck off your hands. Deal? :)

looks reasonable, and appears well taken care of, but the big mechanical issues (Birfs, HG etc) should probably still be looked into carefully to avoid bad surprises. I didn't read it all very carefully, but one thing seemed possibly off to me: He said IIRC that both cats were replaced for $600 or so. Now, I have vague recollections that CDan mentioned the OEM cats at about $1000 each (?). If that is correct, it is possible that the cats he put on are not OEM. This could get to be a sticky issue since I recall reading that there are no aftermarket cats that are ARB compliant. IOW, If the above is correct, it is possible that the cats are not Calif smog-test compliant. Not that the truck wouldn't pass, but that could well become a sticky issue with a big bill down the road. Maybe worth asking about?

Hmmm . . . you're good. I've had smog-test issues before--once was enough. I'll ask. Thank you!

nit-pick: am I imagining thngs or is the "full-time 4WD" emblem on the rear not quite in its factory location? Possible body work?

Jyaaa! 'Sides it doesn't even have the wood moldings .... lockersmockers:rolleyes:

:grinpimp:

Okay. I'm going to email the guy and tell him that his emblem is in the wrong spot and clearly the :censor: truck may as well be parted out. :D Anyway--Ya'll killed my buzz. ;) I've resisted the "buy" impulse for another day.

You are only a few hours drive from there. Go check it out in person. 9 days left in the auction. It looks pretty clean... but I'd have a looksee myself and definately a CarFax report.

I got mine for $11K with 130K miles, excellent condition, fully loaded, with elocking diffs LX450 as a price comparison. I think the LX450's should be worth at least $1K more than a LandCruiser with all the options they have.

Don't jump the gun and overpay. Keep your eyes peeled and be patient. If you have more $$ than time... jump on one you like. If vice versa.... wait for the right one.

Isn't the Toyota logo supposed to be centered on the upper tailgate, as well?

thats later years, my 93 Toyota symbol is off to the drivers side. Actually, I think it may be only 97 that has a centered Toyota emblem....but I'd have to confirm that with other people here
