Sometimes owning a higher mileage 100 series is a PITA (04 270k miles), something is always in need of refreshing, maintenance, attention. etc... And I love every minute of it. Sometimes however, especially when I pull into a gas station, or during a "quick" repair that takes 6hrs to finish, that gnawing feeling begins, that tiny little bit of doubt, a feeling or a little less love than usual. Any doubt for now and at least until I have to reboot the upper ball joints is now gone because of what happened last weekend.
Our second car died and the wife wanted a minivan. We found a used Odyssey at a Honda dealership and off we go. We arrive in the LX, the Honda greeter comes outside and says:
"Please tell me you are trading in that LX, I've been looking for one for so long. I gave up and went with a GX instead." Not "Welcome to Honda", just straight into talking about the LX.
Later on we are talking with the salesperson and working out price etc. He ask about what we drive and if we want to trade it in. I respond that I drive an LX470 and he immediately says "What a sweet car, please tell me you are trading it in, I have been looking for one forever." Finally we are in finance office and making small talk while waiting on something and the LX comes up. Finance guy says that he drives a GX and loves it but is always on the look out for an LX. I was not expecting this at a Honda dealership and it really made my day.
